Rachel's Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
We enjoyed this quite a bit. I didn't add anything other than what the recipe called for. However, I did use half and half in place of the heavy cream. My family did not find it lacking in any flavor and the kids really liked dipping their grilled cheese in it.

Death By Chocolate IV

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2013
This was phenomenal. I followed the recipe exactly and thought this was really delicious. I loved how the chocolate syrup made the cake turn gooey and almost brownie like. This dessert is especially good the next day. The only drawback is presentation. In the trifle bowl it was beautiful, but serving it was messy and looked gloppy. But all guests agreed, the taste far outweighed the appearance and everyone loved it!! That was important too because the adults as well as the young children all wanted seconds.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2013
Since this is a dump cake, it is very easy to make. Just dump everything in a 9X13 and you're done. However, I don't think this is a very good dump cake recipe. I gave it 3 stars because my family enjoyed it but I found it too sweet and not enough peaches. Without changing anything else, adding 2 large cans of peaches would have been better. Adding a little spice such as cinnamon or nutmeg would have been good too. If I make this again I would use 2 cans of peaches, add some cinnamon, and just use one 3 oz packet of Jello.

Layered Eggplant Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
This was a good way to use eggplant. I made a few changes however. Instead of all the different seasonings I just dumped in a bunch of italian seasoning, I skipped the onion layer due to personal preference, I used seasoned bread crumbs, in the cheese layer I combined parmesan and mozzarella, and instead of tomato paste and water I used a jar of spaghetti sauce. I am not normally one to change recipes the first time I make them however, this recipe is very adaptable to your likes and dislikes and is just a base from which to build. We don't like onions, love extra cheese and I am not one to pull out 4 different seasonings if one will get the job done. Ya know?

Gramma's Old Fashioned Chili Mac

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
This was quick to prepare but not that good to eat. I had to doctor it up quite a bit since it was pretty bland. I added some chili powder and worcestshire sauce. I didn't care for the tomato soup base either. It made for a very tomatoey chili mac. I won't make this again.

Suburban Cowboy Delight

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
As many have said, this is a sweet chili. I just couldn't get over the strange combination of flavors that didn't really work for us. The young kids didn't like it either. I thought it was weird and won't make it again.

Fried Pork Chop

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
As soon as I put them in the pan all the flour came off and I basically fried plain chops in oil. Many reviewers did things differently than the recipe states so if you follow their advice things may turn out better for you.

Cheesy Catfish Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
This was just okay as far as fish chowders go. I have another recipe from this site that I like better, but I wanted to try this one because of the cheese. It wasn't bad, just not good enough to make again.

Meat Filled Manicotti

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
I used this filling for jumbo shells and thought it was fabulous! Instead of 2 egg whites I used 1 egg and added garlic salt. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. I followed previous reviewers suggestions to smash the hamburger very fine and not to leave large chunks. I would strongly recommend this recipe.

Chicken Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2012
I needed a quick, easy gravy to serve with leftover turkey and mashed potatoes and this was perfect. It is not a culinary masterpiece by any means. Just a simple gravy to go over leftovers.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
This was a good soup. I did make white rice and put a heaping spoonful into each bowl with an avocado slice. It was a hit! Also, very kid friendly for kids who don't like anything spicy. Personally, I would have preferred some kick but then the kids wouldn't have eaten it.

Stephanie's Freezer Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
Our family didn't enjoy this too well. I have a ton of tomatoes and the first time I made this I improvised quite a bit and it wasn't very good. The second time I followed the recipe much more closely and it still didn't have very good flavor. Sorry.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
Oh Boy! This was good! I used 3 cups shredded zucchini (remembering to scoop out the seeds since it was a big one) and that was a good amount. This was my first time making zucchini bread. I did have to cook it longer than 60 min. I just kept testing with a toothpick and when it came out clean I removed from the oven. I would definitely recommend you try this recipe.

Campbell's Skillet Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
This is a good starter recipe. As written, just a bit boring and bland. It is simple, easy, and quick thereby making it good for a weeknight meal with a bit of easy tweaking.

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
These were delicious! I added S&P to the tomatoes first then added more to the flour. I've had issues with bland tomatoes in the past but these didn't have that problem.
