Carrot Cake III

Awesome cake. I made it for easter and everybody loved the cake and the frosting. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I made 1 small change: I used 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup brown. I followed the recipe for everything else.

Pepperoni Pizza Pita

Really great idea! I'm a vegetarian, so I didn't make it pepperoni, but it was a great, easy, and quick dinner and it looked gourmet.

Potato Pancakes

I was kind of disappointed by this recipe. I used to make potato pancakes with my mom (different recipe) and they always came out great. This recipe left me with a big goopy mess that wouldn't cook right (it was too watery to fry). I finally got fed up and threw it in a greased 9x13. It baked well and didn't stick (like I thought it would), but it was ridiculously dense. My boyfriend (who's part Jewish and loves potato pancakes) said it was different but tasted ok. I think I'll stick to my mom's recipe from now on- it's more work but worth it.

Sarah's Applesauce

Good recipe, but make sure you PEEL the apples! Apple peels have a lot of insoluble fiber, which doesn't break down easily. The inner part of the apple has a lot of soluble fiber which creates the gel consistency of applesauce.

Stove-Top Macaroni and Cheese

I liked this recipe a lot after the changes I made: -Used extra noodles (way too much cheese sauce, but I used small elbows)... about 10 oz. instead of 7. -added greek seasoning to (individual) taste. This was really really good =)

The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

I used 1/2 c. of cocoa powder (like another user suggested) and peanut butter chips instead of chocolate. I only used 2 cups of the chips and it still has a lot of them per cookie. I baked them on a dark sheet, so I lowered the temp to 350 and cooked them 5 minutes, then sprinkled some raw sugar on top (to make it look nice and give it a little crunch) then put it back in the oven for another 4 mins and they came out perfect.

Jen's Fresh and Spicy Salsa

The store was out of green onions, so I used 1 (small) white onion and 1 (small) red onion instead. I also only used 1.5 jalapenos because my roommate and boyfriend don't like spicy food as much as I do. I thought it was really good, but my roommate thought it was too spicy (she blended some sweet tomatoes into hers). It made a lot of salsa!

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Better than the falafels I get in some restaraunts. I used store bought tzatziki sauce (from trader joe's) and I add cilantro to the falafels (about half parsley half cilantro... but a little more cilantro because I like the flavor).
