Doug's Killer Sauce

Love this sauce it is so easy! I used it for spaghetti, but I cut down on the tomato sauce to 1 29 oz. can. I like my sauces more thick. The amount was perfect for one pound of pasta. I did use 1 tablespoon of crused red pepper flakes and will cut that amount back to 1 tsp next time.

Kickin' Collard Greens

These are the best! My father is known for his collard greens and is always asked to make them for EVERYTHING....As a result I have always been hesitant to make collards because from the great cooks we come from, his are the best. I made these according to the recipe, only adding a couple more strips of bacon and sent some to his house. He made a point to call me and tell me how great these were! This is a rare occasion! Everyone who has eaten these have commented on how different they were and how great they are. This is my first attempt and is a keeper!

Coco-Cola Cake II

My friend asked for this cake for her birthday and I decided to give it a try first and I am so glad I did! I read the other reviews and saw where people didn't think the cake had enough chocolate,so I used 5 tablespoons of cocoa with the cake and 3 tablespoons in the icing. It was really GOOD! I think this brought it to the level of chocolate I needed for my craving. Can't wait to make it again this weekend for my friends birthday!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

I used chicken tenderloins, which are perfect for chicken fingers. I followed the recipe exactly as submitted and my family loves it! My teenage daughter will actually make it a point to be home for dinner when this dinner is planned! If you are using chicken breasts instead of chicken tenderloins, I suggest pounding the chicken with a mallet in between two sheets of wax paper or a zip lock back, into thinner (about 1/2") pieces to make frying time shorter.

Blonde Brownie Nut Squares

This treat hit the spot! We couldn't find our vanilla extract, so we used almond and they were very good. They were on the verge of being too sweet, but the family really enjoyed these. This would be a great recipe to take and make your own by chaning the flavoring, adding chocolate or other flavored chips and nuts.

Lemon Cheese Cake

This is a excellent Lemon Cheese Cake. Just for those wondering, lemon cheese is another term for lemon curd. This is very similar to my grandmother's old country recipe and it passed my father's taste test. I followed the recipe as is with one note: I do not stand and stir the lemon cheese the entire time....it takes entirely too long for that! I keep an eye on it and stir it every 5-10 minutes with my whisk. It does take about 30 - 45 minutes for the lemon to thicken, so be patient, it will be well worth it! Remember, the lemon cheese will continue to thicken as it cools. I also cut each layer in half and poked holes so the lemon cheese filling would ooze through the cake. It is extra good!

Amaretto Divine

Oh my gosh! This is the best cake ever! My friend always ask me what kind of cake I want for my birthday and I gave her this recipe this year. I told her don't bother to ask anymore! This is my absolute favorite! She did frost the cake on the sides and it came out looking just like the picture. It is so good! Another friend who is a caterer has made this cake 3 times in the last 2 weeks and it is a huge hit for her too. We'll be having it again tomorrow for Easter. Everyone will be amazed!

Fourteen Layer Chocolate Cake

I love this recipe! We have it every year at holiday gatherings, but I've never had the recipe. I followed all of the suggestions submitted by CAROLINAGIRL34 and had no problems whatsoever. I did adjust the recipe to accommodate 9" cake pans and plain flour. To do so, the list of ingredients changed as follows. For the batter: 1/2 cup + 2tbs +2 tsp butter flavored shortening; 1/2 cup butter; 2 1/3 cups white sugar; 7 eggs; 3 1/2 cups milk; 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour; 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract; 2 tbs +1 tsp baking powder; 3 1/2 cups milk. For the icing: 3 1/2 cups white sugar; 1 cup + 2 tbs. + 2tsp. butter; 1/2 cup +1 tbs. + 1tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder; 1/4 cup + 2 tsp. water; 2 1/3 cups evaporated milk. I increased the amount of batter in each pan to 1 cup. My cake was the hit of our Thanksgiving table and everyone was astonished the cake was as moist as it was. Thanks to Nell and CAROLINAGIRL34!

Artichoke-Chile Dip
