I'm 45 yrs old and married to a real sweetheart. I have 2 children, ages 25 and 17. I've been cooking since I was 8 years old. My grandmother taught me to bake. Lately, cooking is all I think about. My favorite thing to do is turn on the music, pour a glass of wine and begin to cook! I also teach piano lessons, love music and to quilt and read. Love to collect cookbooks!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake everything, especially bread and pies. I adore dishes with fresh garlic and I love to chop things!! My newest challenge is to visit a nice restaurant, order something I've never had before and then try to make it my self. So far I'm doing very well!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Too many to list here. Most of my traditions are related to the holidays. Traditional turkey dinner for Thanksgiving, turkey noodle soup after we put up the tree. Christmas eve just wouldn't be right without steamed shrimp. Since I have over 30 piano and guitar students and there are no lessons on Fridays, that has become MY time in the kitchen. I really look forward to it.
My cooking triumphs
Recently made a wonderful Cheese Bread recipe, as well as Italian Sausage Stromboli and Salmon with Lemon-Dill Sauce. I made a Chicken Diablo dish I ordered at a great Italian restaurant, quite spicy! My real specialty is cream pies...they are always requested.
My cooking tragedies
Gee, haven't too many lately but there have been a few doosies...One was a chocolate cake I tried to use Splenda, applesauce and egg substitute. Flatter than a pancake, and tasted worse....

Grilled Chicken Quesadillas
These were good. I used the Forman Grill. I marinated the chicken in McCormick Baja Marinade, grilled and chopped. I also didn't have green chilies on hand, but next time, I'll be sure use them. Served with pico de gallo and sour cream.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)
I really didn't like this cake. I doubt I would like any recipe for it. It was so bland. The best part was the cool whip I used for the topping. Will not try again.
