Sloppy Joes I

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
This is a dish my boyfriends mother used to mafor him when he was little. I have changed it a bit, and something that I do differently is that I use 1 1/2 lbs ground beef. I also leave out the ketchup and use a half a can of tomato soup instead. I ran out of ketchup one day and found this tastes better. Every once in a while I throw in some sauteed onions and garlic powder as well. My son and his father both love this--so I'm sure I'll be making this for years.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
I've been using this recipe for a few years now, and I love it! I tried other pie crusts before this, and found out that pie crust is not easy to make--AT ALL! Until this one. It's easy and works for anything, from desserts to savory dishes. I use it most often on pot pies. Thanks you for the recipe.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
This was great! I only made two changes. I didn't have any fresh onions left, so I used onion soup mix instead. I also listened to other reviewers and put the sauce on the top instead of the bottom. Turned out great--Thanks for the recipe!

Barbeque Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I followed the suggestions of others and added some garlic and kept the tomato juices in. I upped the bbq sauce a little bit and cut back on the corn bread mix. But I still felt this was missing something. I think it needed some sort of a bite to it. If I ever make it again I'd probably add some jalapeno peppers to it.

Dad's Hamburger Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
This wasn't very good--sorry to say. Really bland and didn't look appealling at ALL. It kind of looked like it had already been eaten.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
These were great! The only thing I changed was that I baked them for awhile first before deep frying them, and I only did that because that was how a bar I worked for years ago used to do it! I was hoping it made it a little less fattening too--but I don't think so!

Easy Guacamole

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Only thing I added was a little pickled jalapeno juice, and only because the can was already open on the counter. It gave it a little extra zing! But it was fabulous before I put it in--thanks much for the recipe!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
I just tried to make this with my son running around underfoot, and didn't follow the directions the right way! I accidently added the brown sugar to the mix instead of in the crumbles. I made the crumbles anyway, because that's always our favorite part of muffins. It still turned out good, just a little sweet! Next time I will make it while he naps and follow the directions!

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I was looking for a good cake with no frosting since the boyfriend doesn't like it, and this was excellent. I used butter cake mix, vanilla pudding, and an entire package of semi-sweet chocolate chips. The only changes I made were that I used a sheet cake pan and coated the chips in flour before mixing them in so that they wouldn't sink to the bottom. This tasted like a giant moist chocolate chip cookie! Thank you so much this was incredibly easy and everyone loved it!

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
This is the second time I've made this recipe--the first time was good, but this time I made a few changes. I kept all the original ingredients, but added and extra half pack of gravy mix, 1/2 cup of red wine, some thyme, potatoes, and some beef broth. The extra gravy and the starch from the potatoes thickened the sauce and it made a ton of it(we're gravy people). This is the first time in a long time I haven't had to thicken pot roast juices after the roast is done. The soda makes all the difference in the tenderness, although I did cut that back a few ounces--Thanks for the recipe!

Tartar Sauce IV

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
This was wonderfull! The only change I made was that I grated the onion instead of using diced, and that was only so that the people who don't like onion wouldn't see it in the sauce. It was great and I will use this from now on. Blows bottled sauces out of the water!

Aunt Blanche's Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Had some lefotver blueberries, and was looking for something to use them in! I listened to some of the other reviewers and substituted 1/4cup of brown sugar for some of the white, and added a little bit of vanilla. Threw in a little bit of cinnamon for extra measure and baked in a loaf pan(didn't have muffin cups). Turned out absolutely fantastic. Was great sliced for breakfast! Thanks much

Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
Made this recipe for a wine get together we had with a bunch of our chef friends. And they all LOVED it!! I added italian seasoning and some garlic powder to the cream cheese. I left out the olives(hate em) and used turkey pepperoni that I had bought to try(can't tell the difference). Sprinkled a little parmasaen cheese on top and served with crostini. I was VERY glad I doubled it. Super easy, I will be making this at every party we have now. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
I used two cups bbq sauce in place of ketchup and kept the chili sauce in. Dusted the outside of ribs with a bbq rub and only baked twenty minutes before putting in the crock pot. The only other thing I addded was a little garlic powder to the sauce. Turned out wonderfully, thanks!!

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
I changed this recipe up quite a bit, but it was a great base recipe! I used country style pork ribs instead of beef short ribs. I also used a bottle and a half of chili sauce, half a bottle of pinot noir, and a cup of beef broth. I doubled the spices, and added paprika and garlic powder. I strained the fat off after slow cooking and used cornstarch to thicken the sauce and it turned out wonderfully!! Next time I will try it with beef.

My Kid's Favorite Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
Loved this recipe! I absolutely stink at making pork chops and my family loves them. This is the first time I made them where they would actually eat them! I used McCormicks California Garlic Pepper seasoning on the outside and browned the pork chops first. I used a plain bbq sauce and a red beer with a tablespoon of garlic powder added. I then covered the pork chops and onions with the sauce in a baking dish, covered it with foil and slowed cooked it in the oven. It turned out delicious and was very easy, thanks!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
Love this recipe! Made a few changes, but everything works out fine. I changed the meat and used a pot roast instead--found the stew meat too tough no matter how long it cooked. I doubled the wine and marinated the pot roast in the wine, fresh garlic, and fresh thyme overnight first. I then browned the roast and used the same pan to cook the onions in then using the marinade to deglaze the pan. I added everything to the crock pot, and used half beef broth and water to disolve the onion soup in. It turns out absolutely fabulous and my whole family loves it. Oh-I threw in a bay leaf too. Thanks much

Simple Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
Made this and my family liked it-said it wasn't bad. But I thought it wasn't all that great. Really wish my mom could remember how she made hers! I can't say I'll be making this again.

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2007
Not bad, but be carefull to check how much onion and what kind you use before making this! Everything was wonderfull but that. I love onion, but it absolutely ruined this as it was too much and too strong. I ended up throwing this out. Maybe try scallions instead.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2006
When my dinner for five turned into a dinner for fifteen, I knew the pot roast I had made off a recipe from this website wouldn't be enough. So I tried this recipe as well, and it was long gone well before the pot roast was. Everyone absolutely loved it, all the kids went back for seconds which is amazing on its own! Thank you so much it was really easy to make, and I have already made it again since, doubling the sauce and using some for spaghetti since my fussy mate won't eat cheese, and he loved that too!
