About this Cook
I love to cook and have been cooking most of my life. My Mom and Grandmothers were great cooks and gave me a good start. But I have taught myself a lot since I moved away from them early in my marriage. I love reading cookbooks and browsing the recipes on this site.
My favorite things to cook
I make pizza about once weekly. I like to make cookies and desserts. Many years ago when they first came out with Airbake cookie sheets I bought them. Love them! Your cookies stay nice and chewy and never burn or get too dry. Pot roast and fried chicken are 2 of favorites. My husband and I enjoy Mexican, Italian, and chinese food but good old American home cooking is the best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love all the traditional Thanksgiving foods. My daughter and I have prefected a brined turkey, cornbread dressing, and gravy. I make candied sweet potatoes and cranberry relish too and of course pumpkin pie!

Microwave Apple Crisp
This recipe was in a MW book I bought 30 years ago and we have had it every couple of weeks. We love it! Mine didn't however have allspice but I am sure it is just as good with it! My recipe also calls for 6 cups of apples. I recently added some cranberries along with the apples and it was very good.

Sun-dried Tomatoes II
The time will depend on your climate--I live in the desert and they don't take this long. I also like to use mine in the winter by putting a few in a small dish, pour salad dressing over them to steep a bit while I prepare the salad and then toss it all into the salad at the last minute. YUM!

Quick Alfredo Sauce
This was very easy and tasted very good. I had it over spaghetti with grilled chicken breast. I was out of garlic and can't wait to add that next time.
