I work for a major consumer packaged goods corporation. I love food (in moderation, as I am an endurance runner!). I love trying time-intensive recipes that are a labor of love.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian, roasted veggies (they're so much better that way!), marinated steak, anything with cheese! I could live on appetizers. 9 times out of 10 I'll choose savory over sweet.

Making special Christmas cookies with my mom, sister, and aunts.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook fish without being afraid! Learning to experiment with food instead of worrying about screwing up and everything going to waste.
My cooking tragedies
Soggy fish, undercooked chicken, overcooked beef, burned asparagus, sinking cakes. Disastrous cookies. Rock hard fudge.

Cherry Balsamic Short Ribs
I made these for my boyfriend's birthday and they were AMAZING. The house smelled insane while I was preparing them - I felt like a chef. That being said, I couldn't really detect the cherry-based ingredients in the finished product. Just savory and delectable gourmet short ribs. I think next time I will decrease some of the chicken stock and add the juice from the cherries instead (recipe didn't say to add it and by the time I added the cherries there was already a scary amount of liquid in my French oven). I will DEFINITELY make these again, next time for company. I served mine with caramelized shallot smashed potatoes and a green apple-gorgonzola-walnut salad. Thank you foodlover!!!!

Fat Pete's Fudge
this is officially the best fudge I've ever eaten. I cut the recipe in half but forgot to half the evaporated milk, and maybe this is what kept it soooooo creamy. Like butta. I used a Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate bar in place of the Hersheys. No one could believe I made this. thank you thank you thank you......

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy
OH. MY. GOD. I have never made candy of any kind (unless you count fudge which is a crapshoot as far as whether it turns out great or gross). I was scared to death to try this but figured I'd give it a shot. Followed the recipe to the letter. Stirred the mixture constantly while it was melting, then almost constantly after it came to a boil. It turned out perfect!!!! I was so concerned that the caramel wasn't going to harden but it did!!!! It is beautiful and delicious!!! Merci!!! Merci!!! Merci!!! My family could not believe that I made this.
