About this Cook
I am a mother of two (three if you count my dear husband) and i love to cook for my family and friends! I would rather have friends over to eat then eat at a restaurant(pricey) or at our friends house (because I love to cook!).
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything, but my favorite thing to cook are breads/pies/cakes/cookies. I also love to make soups. We are a hot tea drinking family so I especially love to make different tea biscuits and such.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Sunday mornings because caramel rolls are a must! Just as homemade baked brown beans with molassas bread is a saturday night stape. I love to cook with my kids as it has taught them how to do fractions and they are only in kindergarten and 1st grade. Christams cookies and a big thing in my family. My kids generally eat everything i make because they helped make it.
My cooking triumphs
I was 8 when I made my first pie- my dad helped me a bit to get the crust in the pan but it turned out great! I will never forget my mom's delight at coming home from work to a fresh baked bluberry pie! I also make a superbly good wild rice soup which I will place on this site for everyone!
My cooking tragedies
Over the years I have had my share of "what was I thinking moments" My dear husband has always eaten everything I cooked even if I didn't like it... My best remembered "tragedy" was when I doubled a choc chip cookie recipe but forgot to double the flour. My five brothers loved the end result but I spent two days trying to get my mom's brand new cookie sheets clean...

Marinated Tuna Steak
I don't like tuna from a can and had never had fresh tuna before. I was scared I wouldn't like it so I searched for a recipe that I thought would make the tuna at least edible to me. Wow, am I glad that I found this recipe! Followed it pretty closely except I subbed fresh ginger for the oregano as I didn't have any. Marinated it all day and not only was it delicious, I can't wait to eat tuna again! First time in my life that I've eaten tuna! Thanks for the great recipe.

Red River Beef Stroganoff
I have not had Stroganoff in over ten years. I made this tonight for dinner and it was great! Only change I made is that I used 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms and I marinated the beef strips in a bit of Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 cup red wine for a few hours. I think it would have been a five star even with the changes I made. My picky daughter ate seconds, that says it all! Thanks for the great recipe!!!!!

Sloppy Joes II
I didn't know what to make for supper so I logged onto this site and saw that this was the recipe of the day! I doubled it so I would have enough for dinner tomorrow night and my only changes were to add more garlic powder, add in onion powder, and omit the brown sugar. These were great! Thanks for making me a hero at the table tonight!
