About this Cook
I am recently married and my husband & I both love to cook. We spend lots of time experimenting on new dishes and trying out new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Fresh bread
My cooking tragedies
I always loved to bake growing up and I attempted to make an angel food cake when I was a teenager. I didn't beat the egg whites until they formed peaks (basically just beat them with a fork!). Needless to say, I have yet to eat angel food cake since.

Simple Beef Flavored Gravy
This was very tasty. I was surprised at the amount of butter, but that's probably why it tasted so darn good. Thanks!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast
I struggled with getting the roast up to temp. I followed the instructions, however, my roast was closer to 4 lbs so I tried to compensate and cook accordingly. By the time the 2.5 hours was up, the roast was only at 135 so I had to turn the oven back on and cook for about another hour. I took it out at 140 and tented it and it finally came up to 145... it just took forever. The roast was OK. It could be more tender, but it was not too tough either. I made simple beef flavored gravy to accompany this dish and I am very glad I did. I personally think this cut of meat is bland and the gravy definitely perked it up. Not too good, but not too bad either.

Butternut Squash Risotto
I love this recipe. It is so creamy and delicious. I was a bit skeptical trying this as it doesn't sound like a typical combination, but believe me - it works!!!
