Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
Very good! I will never buy the canned stuff again. It's so easy to make at home and you don't have all those unknown ingredients that are added to the canned stuff. =) my picky kids, ages 4 and 2, loved this meal and I figure its a good way to sneak in some veggies, cut up small and mixed in with everything else. Mmm!

I've made this. It is very good! I love it! What I did though was just use egg whites, sugar, crushed peppermint sticks, and chopped nuts =) tastes great just like this!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I just made this today and my cookies came out great! I only made half of this recipe though and I got a total of 50 cookies! More than enough for us! =) I did add a bit more sugar and used parchment to roll it out on. These taste great! I think next time I am going to add a bit of almond extract though along with vanilla. =)

This is a pretty good sugar cookie frosting recipe! :) It is what I have been looking for. I added almond extract though. Yum! It was even better than just adding vanilla. I added a bit of that too though. :) it was great!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
I made this tonight and it was really delicious! It was easy too. I was looking for something to make with my apples that I had in the fridge and this popped up. I do agree with a few others though that 1/2 cup is just too much water but it also depends on the type of apples you use. I didn't use so much water and it still had lots of liquid. But it went GREAT with vanilla ice cream. And always serve warm, cold is ok but its better warm. ;-)

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
Wow this is delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner! haha! Just kidding but I served this today as an appetizer for my guests at my daughters 1st bday party and everyone loved it there was hardly any left over! I added guacamole to it and I made that by adding just a packet of guacamole seasoning mix stuff and I added the taco seasoning to the cream cheese/sour cream mix in which i didn't add that much cream cheese or sour cream. I felt only half of each that was listed was enough! thanks for the great recipe :) I can't wait to eat the left overs! I forgot to add that this dish is GREAT served cold! After I put it together I put it in the fridge for about 15 minutes and then served it but I put the leftovers away for a few hours and then snacked on it later and it was even better colder. :)

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
I made these a couple days ago for a party that I had today. No one really ate them but I like them. Warning, they are really rich and do make them as small as you can! I made exactly as the recipe says except I put in rum extract instead of vanilla. I can only eat one a day and I made about 30 of them, not too small either! OH well :) they are good anyways! I didn't use as much sugar though.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
I just made this tonight and WOW it is so tasty! I have it in the fridge for tomorrow though because it's my daughters 1st bday and I'm having a party. I didn't add the raspberries though from previous reviews and also because I just couldn't find any but I added raspberry preserves and it tastes great so far and that's without the apple added! I'm adding that tomorrow before I serve it. I also added nectarines.. :-) The cinnamon chips are the best though! I wasn't sure why everyone was raving about them and now I know why! They are fantastic! and super easy to make too! I might make just those in the future. I used a regular vegetable oil spray. I figured I just needed that so that the sugar and cinnamon would stick to the tortillas. I used a pizza cutter too and cut more than 1 tortilla at a time and used a muffin form to make a scoop and that is great! :-) Mmm!! thanks for the great recipe! I can't wait for my guests to try it! update: my guests really liked it. I didn't get asked for the recipe or anything but they asked what was in it. no one really touched the cinamon chips though which was sad! they are good. I think everyone thought I bought them at the store. haha! I'm happy with this recipe though :) It went great along with the Tres Leches cake recipe I found on this site.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: May 11, 2007
I made this cake tonight and it was really good! I was worried at first when It came out of the oven because it looked so flat and boring but when I added the milk it turned out pretty good! I didn't add all the milk though. I left some out so that I could pour over each slice as I served. I think a little drizzle of the extra milk around the slice is perfect and also gives it a nice presentation along with fresh strawberries and whip cream on top. :) I also add the whip cream individually (i cheated and bought one of those cans of whip cream). But it was too thin I think for me and I used a 9x13 inch glass pan too. I am going to double this recipe next time and use the same pan cuz I love thicker cake. :) I'm glad I found this recipe! thanks alot!

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: May 11, 2007
I made these tonight and I couldn't wait to try one so after about an hour or two I took one out and cut it up for my husband and myself and it was delicious :) I'll definitly be serving these at my daughters 1st bday parties since I have been looking for great appetizers to make. I didn't use the ranch mix stuff but I bought something similar from the store that has paprika and chili in it. It's great! I also added bits of bacon and I didn't use the celery. I just don't like it much :) and I used a yellow bell pepper too along with the red one. I'll definitly be making these more often! Oh and I added cheese too and I'll be using MORE cream cheese next time too. I didn't use what the recipe says but more will be better I think. :) Thanks!

Lemon Square Bars

I just ate my first piece of lemon bars that I've made for the first time. It was pretty good. A little sweet but not way too sweet for me and I did use a little less sugar but not by much. I was too anxious and tasted it warm. I can't wait to taste one when its cool. :) thanks! I'll definitly be making these again!

Oven Beef Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
I just made this tonight. I added a bit of other spices like garlic powder and kørvel (no idea what it is in english). The tomatoe soup was a bit too sweet for me so I think I'll add less than a can next time I make this. It was pretty good though and my husband enjoyed eating it with rolls. We also added corn but to our own bowls. Cooked corn of course ;) we liked the crunch it gave. I'll be making this in the future again but I think I'll make some changes later on. Oh and I also added a vegetable bullion cube to the water and added that. And I definitly added more water toward the middle of cooking. I don't like it being way too thick. ;) thanks for the recipe

Grilled Salmon With Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
Well I only made the cucumber salad to this recipe. I also made the salmon but I put it in the oven. I brushed olive oil on the filets, added a little bit of dill and rosemary and pepper and salt to each of them (not much just a little of each) then squeezed lemon juice on them and put some thin lemon slices on top, wrapped them in foil, put them on a baking sheet and into the oven. :) The cucumber salad was good too but I did add some chopped, seeded tomatoe pieces and it was yummy. I also just used regular vinegar since that is what I had. Both went very well together! Thanks for the idea ;)

Raspberry Oatmeal Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
This was pretty good actually. I made it lastnight for dessert and served it with vanilla ice cream. I warmed up the squares first in the microwave for a few seconds because I had made them earlier in the day. I actually had to add MORE lemon juice and I added a bit of milk too. But I had to add more than what this recipe said. I added bit by bit, and water too, until I thought it looked the way this recipe says its suppose to look. They weren't too bad. :) My guest liked them! I'll definitly be making these again.

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2007
I just made these tonight and they were delicious!! But I'm definitly going to change it a bit next time. I kneaded the dough for about 8-10 minutes and I left it alone and covered to rise for about 4 hours. They turned out pretty fluffy because of that. But next time I make these I am going to use less brown sugar for the rolls. The icing was pretty good but again a little too sweet for my taste so less sugar next time and definitly more cream cheese. I also added some cardemom along with the cinnamon. :) The dough turned out pretty good for me and it was easy. I just kept adding flour until it was no longer sticky. I will definitly be making these again...and again...

I made this dish tonight. It was yummy. I used whatever pasta I had and used fresh mushrooms and less pepperoni and I added a layer of cheddar cheese some pasta then the rest of the toppings. I also added some olives. It was good. I think I'm going to add more cheese next time though. :) It was good!

Apple Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
This is a pretty basic apple pie recipe but mine didn't come out the way it was suppose to. :) Well this WAS my 1st time making a pie of this kind so I blame it being my 1st time and I learn as I go. Mine came out dry though and I added about a bit of flour to each layer, about 2tbsp total to entire pie. I used Gala apples and they are suppose to be juicy but for some reason mine came out dry. :( oh well. I'll try again next time! Maybe I won't add but a pinch of flour maybe none at all! I also totally forgot to add butter :-/ so maybe that is why? I am not sure..Ill try again in the future and as I said I learn as I go but what I did come up with was pretty delicious anyways ;) especially after cooling down and being in the fridge over night :) I added cardemum along with cinnamon!! Mmm!

Calabacitas Con Queso - Zucchini with Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
I have made this dish several times and its one of my favorites! I use shredded cheddar and white cheddar on top after its done cooking. It melts and its delicious! It goes well especially with homemade fresh tortillas! I learned this dish from my mom and this tastes exactly like it. I definitly recommend it. I don't add sugar to mine though and if you are into spicy adding one jalapeno in there with the bell pepper is good. :-) and for those who haven't had this before, its suppose to be slightly runny but eating with tortillas helps alot and add cheese a bit at a time or right on your plate to avoid it being way too cheesy :)
