About this Cook
I am married and have 3 children and work full-time. When growing up, becoming a wife and mother, I loved to cook and was very good at it! But as the kids got busier cooking turned into a "chore". Now that they are older I am finding more time to cook and experiment in the kitchen and it's not a "chore" anymore!
My favorite things to cook
I'd have to say my specialty is Mexican! Also, anything out of my friends and family recipe book that I got at my wedding shower! I love all those tried and true recipes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chili on Halloween Night. I make a batch and put it in the slow cooker to simmer all day. Then the kids have something warm in their tummys before trick or treating or they have something warm to eat when they get home! Everyone has a favorite topping to add... crushed doritos, shredded cheese, sour cream, hot sauce - yum!
My cooking triumphs
No blue ribbons or anything, because I've never entered anything into a contest, but I'm ALWAYS getting requests to bring some favorites to Holiday gatherings, potlucks, etc. No one even cares if it is a tried and true recipe - they are my guinea pigs and they love it!
My cooking tragedies
No tragedies yet :-)

Apple Crisp II
The best apple crisp recipe I have ever tried! I did reduce the water to 1/4 cup. I also only used 1/2 cup quick cooking oats and added one cup up pre-made pie crust to the topping mixture!! So delicious!!

Reuben Pizza
I used a refrigerated pizza dough and followed direction on package and sprinkled dry rye bread crumbs on top instead of caraway seeds. This was a super yummy pizza and we will definitely be making it again!

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars
my mom/sister used to make this and was very happy when I stumbled across the recipe! I used the exact ingredients but put the stick of butter in the pan while oven was preheating, once melted I took pan out of oven and sprinkled 1 1/2 cups cracker crumbs, then pressed down and layered rest of ingredients, then pressed all ingredients down with spatula. Once baked everything stuck together wonderfully and tasted like I rememered!
