I've moved around quite a bit--up and down the west coast, even in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! I've learned that all ovens are different and local ingredients are a must.
I support my eating and cooking habits through the fashion industry where I am a technical designer for a clothing line. I seek to surround myself with beautiful things and people who LOVE to eat.
My favorite things to cook
I really started my love affair with cooking when I started hosting parties. Party food and finger food are my favorite things to whip up, especially if there is a theme. As for everyday cooking, I love experimenting with Asian fusion dishes that incorporate nutritious ingredients. I love the challenge of making traditional dishes CLEAN and adding more fibrous and healthful veggies to the mix.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like any American, I love Thanksgiving. My parents were immigrants and although they assimilated just fine, we never forgot our roots. Thanksgiving is always amazing in that I can eat Turkey and Nam Kao from the same plate. :D
My cooking triumphs
My first time cooking Thanksgiving 2008 and my Turkey turned out amazing. I was so happy I ate everything to reward myself ;P
I've had several successful Thanksgivings thereafter.
My cooking tragedies
I did not know my (former) mother in law's oven was a little hotter than the temperature indicated. The few times I've tried baking, hard, blackened and inedible was the result. Now my M-in-L thinks I fail at baking.
