Kiki's Borracho (Drunken) Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Excellent. I wondered about adding salt with the first cook of the beans. It slows down cook time. Bean cooking 101. I left out salt until the end when beans were soft. The rest to the tee.

These are living proof that simplicity can be the best tactic. You can expand on these any way you would like but the basis works fantastic as well.

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
Oh my goodness, these are OUTSTANDING!!! I used whole wheat made from white wheat berries. It is milder in flavor than standard whole wheat.I did everything else exactly as stated. These are a winner and I will never create another kind of pancake other than these. I was thinking shredded coconut in the batter and ground macacdamia nuts over the top with a syrup made with coconut milk with lots of real butter would be a GREAT twist but I will always use this recipe as a base.AMAZING!!

Pie Crust Mix

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
GOODNESS at its finest!! I would have never considered lard in the past but I am NEVER going to make another pie crust. It is beyond awesome and it redefines the word "flaky" in context to a pie crust. I would give it a 10 if I could!!!!!!!!

Banana Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
I made this to the letter other than bake time, being 30 minutes. It's really good and tweaking the recipe is unnessesary.I like to try the original recipes first to see if it's great without my additions or deductions. It turned out perfect. The frosting is always too much, no matter what recipe :)

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
Really a great snack granola as directions call for but to use as a cereal combined with (raw) milk the amount of salt is way too much.I will reduce to 1/4 t or none at all next time and I used 1T cinnamon and 1T vanilla.
