About this Cook
My name is Leah. I was born, raised and make my home in Kentucky. I have been cooking ever since I was old enough to stand. I am happily married to the man of my dreams. We have 6 kids, 1 boy and 5 girls. I have strong southern roots that influences my cooking. I am a GRITS girl. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Some of my favorites to make include: Pumpkin Roll, Mexican Wedding Cookies, Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook at the holidays. I love spending all morning on Thanksgiving preparing all my family's favorite dishes. We love to make cookies at Christmas. Another tradition around our house is the Kentucky State Fair. The whole family gets in on the fun! We love to go and see if we have won anything!
My cooking triumphs
My Pumpkin Roll. I am almost famous for it around work and my family. :)
My cooking tragedies
Oh.....the chocolate balloon incident. Fourth of July 1995, I was trying to make little chocolate bowls that would be filled with chocolate mousse. I had gotten the recipe off of the cooking show "Death by Chocolate." I got everything ready, the balloons, chocolate, wax paper, everything. Only one problem, the balloons kept popping!!! My son, who was a baby at the time, was in his highchair. Needless to say, he had to go take a bath when all was said and done. Chocolate was EVERYWHERE! I looked like I had chocolate spot fever. I can look back and laugh now. But at the time, I was in tears!

Chocolate Gravy II
My Grandmother made this for me all of the time. This tastes just like hers! I did reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup and added a dash of salt. A wonderful, wonderful recipe. Try this one, you will not be disappointed! :)
