Gingerbread Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Gave this a 3 because you can still utilize the dough. If you are looking for a recipe to "build" a gingerbread house, this would be the one. Just don't eat the house when you are done. The shortening in this recipe is horrible. I even tried 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter, but it didn't help. It is very crisp and cardboard-like and will work well for a house, but the flavor is not good.

Irish Ginger Snaps

Very good flavor. Agree with other reviews, smaller balls, and more bake time.

Irish Cream Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
We made these for our Culinary Arts class, and could not use the Irish Creme(alcohol), so we substituted Irish Creme coffee creamer(the liquid kind). The texture was great, the flavor lacked a little, but overall, good for a sugar cookie recipe. I would like to try frosting these using the coffee creamer as the milk in the buttercream frosting, to see if the flavor is enhanced.

Awesome Carrot Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
I teach Family and Consumer Science and tried this muffin for the vegetable unit we are on. Usually I end up with five different results with just one recipe, but this one turned out the same in each kitchen!! I did follow the other reviews by reducing the powder, soda and salt. I also used the 3/4 c applesauce and 1/4 c oil. Believe it or not, the high school kids that ate this really liked it! Of course I left out the raisins(you know kids), but they were quite surprised at how good they tasted. I will keep using this recipe in class, and at home. I will add the raisins, and walnuts I think!

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
I had 5 kitchens make this recipe for a Foods lab and they all took at least 75 minutes to finish. I took the advice of other reviews and added additional bananas, 2 cups, instead of 1, I think this made it too gooey. i will try this again with just the one cup. It was very moist, almost to the point of "is it done or not". Flavor was cake-like.
