Cheese Puff Appetizers

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
This recipe was a bit difficult to execute. The dough was very sticky. I ended up adding almost another cup of flour just so I could handle it. I used 1 1/2 c cheese (ran out) and it was still very cheesy. I did add salt, a little garlic as others suggested. After adding the extra flour is was easy to roll and cover the olives. Black olives tasted better than the green when cooked. Even cool the puff coating was good, but not the olive flavor. Not real keen on the overall taste. This would be very tasty with mini hot dogs. I did cook for 17 minutes and had no problem with doughy centers.

French Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
Good recipe on the first try. May give it a 4 latter if it gets better. Definitely double the salt. The egg wash is a must. It made the crust very crunchy. Where I didn't apply it evenly, the crust was only so, so. I used my stand mixer to mix and then I had it knead the dough for 5 min. I hand kneaded for 3 minutes. May try this again and knead just a little longer. I also added about 5 1/4 c flour. The only other modification I made was to add a little sugar to the mix (2 tsp) since I only used 2 pkg of yeast. I am in search of a bread that is really light on the inside. This was almost it. May reduce flour a little more.

Pizza Dough II

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
I have made this three times and the kids have loved it. It has turned out great each time. I dont use wheat fluor though and I dont prebake it. I only let it rise until it reaches the top of the bowl, so it takes very little prep time (30 minutes). I put my it in a bowl with a damp towel to rise and place it in the microwave. The oven light on the bottom of the microwave heats its just right. It rolles out very evenly without splitting.

Spinach Quiche with Kid Appeal

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
Very good. I had enough for two quiche pies, but the garlic was a little much. (And I like garlic). Next time I will use just a dash of garlic powder instead of a clove fresh.

Use less garlic or garlic powder and it will turn out a 5.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2007
Good solid stew with great flavor. I did double some the seasoning (garlic/worshester sause). I would use a little less salt. I used a poor cut of beef and it tasted very good. My family said I need to double the recipe next time.

Cadillac Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Good. Has just the right amount of kick to the dip. Next time I may use sour cream and grated instead of shredded cheese. I used regular cheddar in this recipe.

Denny's Amazing Five Minute Asiago Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Different. The cheese flavor was a bit strong but had several compliments. I may use sour cream instead of mayo next time for a softer flavor.

Cajun Style Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
OK. Expected better from all the reviews. I followed the suggestions of lowering the spice factor for kids. (I cut the hot spices in half) Definitely heat spices/milk mixture until a thick paste before adding to meat. Also allow allow to stand 15 minutes before serving or it will fall apart. May try it again, but will keep my Dads recipe.

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
I have made this dish many times (using red/yellow peppers) My kids and husband love it. Excellent. The only thing I changed was to do it as a skillet meal using potatoes that were already cooked and sliced.

Noodles Marmaduke

Good and solid meal. The beef flavor was not very pronounced. I'll try it again with a different beef broth.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2006
Made this twice. Once with grilled pork and again with steak. Left out the soy sauce the second time and it was excellent. Too much soy for our taste.
