My favorite things to cook
Italian food and desserts. I make homemade ravioli, a mean gravy (sauce, homemade candies, just about anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Thanksgiving my family comes to my house for dinner. I usually have about 20 people for dinner. It gets a little loud, a little crowded but its lots of fun! Family is what its all about! We start out with lasagna, traditional salad, plus tomato and antipasti. Then we have the homemade breads, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, squash, corn, baked beans, broccoli, Two 24lb turkeys, with a mean stuffing, if I do say so myself! A ham, cookies, Italian pastries, cranberry bread, carrot cake, zucchini bread (all homemade family recipes) and pies, apple, pumpkin, blueberry, coconut custard, ambrosia, and ice cream. With lots left over so that everyone can take a little home with them. The best part is, I don't clean the mess! Usually my extended family starts cleaning while I'm passing out the last round of food. All the mess and fuss is worth it because I get to have my family with me. We remind each other of the good times, when our parents were here, and the silly things we did.
My cooking triumphs
Wedding cakes, family and holiday dinners.
My cooking tragedies
I can't really recall anything specific except for the duck. My husband and I had no clue it was a duck! Funny, oh so funny. It could have bounced out of the oven and out the door! Needless to say, it was thrown out and I never tried duck again!
