About this Cook
I am a recently recent college graduate who has been learning to cook seriously since i moved out of the dorm 2 1/2 years ago. I'm a marathon runner, as well, so healthy eating/ finding and figuring out the energy potential in my ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! Either sweets or simple things like a nice, warm loaf of bread.
My cooking triumphs
My first homemade bread turned out incredible. It was a bit of a surprise and I spent most of my day being in my family's way in the kitchen so I was afraid it wouldn't be worth the time and would turn out terrible. It was wonderful and a pleasant surprise.
My cooking tragedies
I am relentless in my desire to bake with only whole wheat flour. It can be implemented into every recipe I've tried so far, but that means most of the time my first tries are screw-ups until I find what needs to be compensated for.

Southwestern-Flavored Ground Beef or Turkey for Tacos & Salad
good stuff! i'm not a fan of the spicey envelopes of salty junk my mom normally uses to make taco meat and i was on the hunt for a replacement. the spices didn't overwealm the rest of the taco and had a super taste!

Grilled Portobello Mushrooms
delicious and easy! the only problem i had was picking out appropriate mushrooms. i'm still new to certain types of produce, so 2 out of my four mushrooms were under ripe and lacked that 'mushroomy flavor' - though they were still delicious.

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake
excellent! i made this for my family for mother's day after my mom made a request for a dessert that was chocolately. my cheesecake cracked, as everyone else mentioned, but i didn't attempt the water bath because this was my first cheesecake. but i'm also blessed with a family who isn't remotely food-picky and couldn't care less how cracked and unsmooth a dessert could be. but i'm appearance obsessive, so i'll try it next time. the irish creme taste isn't too terribly apparent, my family kept asking if coffee was an ingredient. so if you're really looking forward to tasting the irish creme, up the amount a bit. delicious and super rich!
