Avocado Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2012
Amazing! Great starter recipe. Changed add one banana, lowered honey to 1T, used FF Greek plain yogurt, not vanilla, and added 1 tsp vanilla extract. Did I mention amazing? I've never had an avocado smoothly before and it was the creamiest, yummiest treat.

Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
4 stars for the healthy elements in this soup. 2 stars for the absolutely boring taste. I am a vegetarian and normally cook low fat meals but this did not hit the spot. Followed it exactly as written then simmered in a crock pot for 3 hours and blended at the end. I wouldn't spend the time to make this soup again.

Swimming Angels

Excellent recipe, only change we made was to add 1 tsp ginger. Served this with the spicey bok choy and curried asparagus dip from this site. Great dinner.

Spicy Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
Pretty decent recipe, nothing terribly exciting, but given the ease of making it and the relatively short list of ingredients, this is a keeper.

Cinnamon-Raisin Granola

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Yummy! Granola made by me - no way! Made three changes: cooked 26 minutes so it was super crunchy, added sunflower seeds and roasted chopped almonds, and used maple syrup instead of brown sugar, which meant I didn't have to boil the liquid mixture and saved time. Easy to make and delicious, just ate a bowl with vanilla soymilk!

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Fantastic recipe. I admittedly suck at baking, but this was a success. Made recipe exactly as written except for three changes: used virgin coconut butter/oil instead of shortening (which gave it a subtle coconut flavor), used 1 1/2 cups of flour, and baked for 35 minutes. Turned out amazing. I'm going to go eat another piece right now!

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
After all these amazing reviews I was certain this would be delicious, but it wasn't. I used the revised low fat recipe that called for evaporated skim milk and 1/4 c butter, but it lacked the robustness that makes Butter Chicken so amazing. Next time I am going to use cream, so until then this only gets 3 stars.

Absolutely Perfect Palak Paneer

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
I added garam masala, used real paneer, and omitted the cilantro. It definitely wasn't very good. I can't say that I'd make it again.

Fra Diavolo Sauce With Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
Excellent and relatively easy dish to prepare. I will definitely make this again! Please note that this is not a dish for people on a budget. The total cost of the dish was $34! We could have eaten at a restaurant for cheaper. It is important to use fresh ingredients - we bought all the seafood fresh from fish market (scallops, clams, and huge shrimp) and the veggies from a veggie stand. Really fantastic recipe w/ tons of flavor. Served over angel hair instead of linguine.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
Awesome and so darn yummy. The only thing that I changed was I doubled the recipe and used regular spaghetti noodles instead of Udon. Served with Asian Tuna Patties from this site.

Asian Tuna Patties

Excellent, easy and tasty! I followed the recipe exactly as printed except didn't coat with cornmeal and added a dash of red pepper flakes. My husband and I both enjoyed and will definitely make this again. I served with the peanut butter noodles on this site. Great combo.

Cream of Mushroom Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
This soup is pretty darn good and really easy to make if you don't screw up the blending part. I changed the recipe and added 2 cups of broth and 1/2 cup of red wine instead of the sherry. *Be careful when pureeing the soup, only put 1-2 cups at a time into the blender. I put too much and hit the switch and it blew! Blending hot liquids is different than cold (I think!)

Ricotta Stuffed Squash

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
The filling was fantastic, my favorite part. I added a seeded, chopped tomato, a dash of red pepper flakes, and added chopped fresh basil. I couldn't stop eating the filling while cooking. I microwaved the sqaush for 2 minutes then put it in the over for 5 minutes before adding the filling. 20 minutes before it was done I added swiss cheese to the top. Served it with fresh parmesan cheese and warm tomato sauce. Excellent, will definitely make again. Oh yeah, this dish is HUGE, you don't need any sides.

Pasta With Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
Used 12 oz wheat spaghetti and increased all ingredients by one half. Substituted coconut milk for the broth. Used shelled edamame and broccoli for veggies. Added garlic, crushed red pepper, and cayanne pepper to peanut sauce and squeezed lime on when served. Decent, easy meal, nothing amazing.

Five Minute Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
I cannot believe I found this recipe 10 minute ago and am already eating homemade ice cream! So yummy. I used half fat free milk and half fat free half and half, frozen blackberries from Trader Joes instead. Served immediately, more sorbet than ice cream - but still great!

Kitty Litter Cake

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
Gorgeously disgusting looking cake. No one wanted to eat it because it was so realistic. My 5 year old nephew even started crying when we tried to make him eat "cat poop"! Once people actually ate it they liked the taste. I was too grossed out to finish it, as the texture is bizarre. This is a keeper.

Cookie Brittle

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
These are the best cookies ever... my mom has made them since I was a little girl. We make them a bit differently - we add chopped roasted almonds and chocolate chips after the dough has cookie. Make the dough, bake it until golden brown, then remove from the oven. Sprinkle chocolate chips on the top, as they melt, spread around with a frosting knife, then sprinkle the chopped almonds on top. Let cool, break, then EAT!
