I realized, after making this pie and reading all of the reviews, that I actually DO like syrupy, sweet pecan pies. :) This pie gets 3 stars just on personal taste; this isn't what I expect from pecan pies, and whether or not that's a good thing depends on the individual preference.
I put in half as many chopped and whole pecans as called for, and left out the crushed all together, and it was still an amazing amount of pecans. I only added a teaspoon of flour and that was enough for me. I used a Pillsbury crust, but considering this was my first time ever to make a pie, this was pretty easy and turned out nice.
This is a great recipe if this is what you're looking for. I think I'll try something different next time.
