This was my first attempt at making an apple pie and I have to say, it was the best apple pie I've ever tasted! I followed directions as written, except I added the filling to the crust first, then topped it with the lattice crust, which I then brushed with melted butter. (For the crust, I used the recipe from this site, Pastry for Double-Crust Pie.) I put the pie on a foil lined baking sheet just in case it ran over, but it didn't. This recipe is very sweet, and my apples weren't very tart. I had added a little sugar to the crust and the outcome was a little too sweet for my taste. But that was my mistake. This recipe, followed as written, is perfect! Thanks for sharing!!
