About this Cook
I've just started my first year of university, attending Ryerson (in downtown Toronto, Canada) with a focus in graphic communications. I've been cooking since I was little, and once I was allowed to cook on my own, I've never looked back.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything with pasta in it, from spaghetti to lasagna. I'm partial to tomato sauces, but my babcia (grandmother) makes a killer seafood linguine - a recipe I'm eager to learn!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas is definitely the biggest holiday for my family, following a traditional Polish dinner: 13 dishes with no meat whatsoever. I love being old enough now to really pitch in and contribute to making the dinner, to take the burden off my mother and my grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
Definitely the first time I made bread. It's become a staple in my house to have homemade bread and baguettes instead of buying the store-bought alternatives.
My cooking tragedies
There's so many to choose from! There was the time that I (stupidly) put a rock-hard bag of brown sugar in the microwave and started a small fire; the time I forgot to turn the oven on while baking a cake, and wondering why it wasn't rising - actually, pretty much any time I make cake, something goes wrong.

Coconut Macaroons German Style
Made these since I had lots of leftover coconut from Coconut Cream Pie. I almost forgot about the toasted ones and was wondering why it wasn't a bit more.. thick. But that was my own fault. I'm working on a batch now, with one done and cooled. These are really, really good. Entire family likes them, even my brother who hates coconut.

Coconut Cream Pie I
I absolutely love coconut cream pie, and I decided to make some while shopping with mom for Thanksgiving this weekend. It's cooling in the fridge, but I tried a small piece and it tastes amazing. Thanks for the recipe!

Carrot Cake XI
My first attempt at a carrot cake, so I'm not deducting any points for anything I might have done wrong. This is delicious, I'm almost regretting that I put on the frosting, because in the end it stole away from the taste. If I were to make a carrot cake again, this would be my recipe.
