Fresh Pear Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2010
This is a great recipe! Note you should preheat your oven, not stated in directions. This is very apple pie like, with a slight pear taste. The sauce is cinnamony syrupy but not too sweet. The recipe is simple & straight forward. Those lucky enough to taste this delish pie will think you are a serious baker & think you have slaved away over this pie, when it is really easy. You can't mess it up! I made my own pie crust as follows: 2 cups All-Purpose Flour 1 tsp. salt 2/3 cup shortening 5-6 tablespoons ice cold water Whisk or sift together flour and salt until well mixed. Rub shortening into flour with fingertips or cut in using two knives or a pastry blender until mixture has lumps the size of small peas. Fill a small glass with ice and water. Using a tablespoon measure, spoon out 1 tablespoon of ice water at a time, stirring quickly into the flour mixture, using only enough water (5 or 6 tablespoons) for the pastry to come together (mixture will be crumbly). Divide into two portions, with the larger half being for the bottom of the pie crust. Shape each portion into a 1/2" thick disk shape. Smooth the edges. Wrap in plastic wrap and rest for 20 minutes. Roll out on a lightly floured work surface to a size 1 1/2 inches larger than the pie pan. Fit into pan loosely. Bake according to directions given in the pie recipe being used.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
This is an excellent recipe. It is great to have a dish you can prepare & leave in fridge to cook & serve fresh right out the oven without having to get up with the chickens. That being said, I have made it that way 5-6 times with great results but today I was pushed for time & wanted to bake right then to send @ 4am with my husband. I didn't let it sit in fridge @ all and I guessimated the ingredients, as usual it turned out perfect and tasty. I use the precooked Jimmy Deans sausage crumbles, just tear the bread & I had it prepared & in the oven in 10 minutes or less :) Try the recipe, its awesome! It is rich & definitely no health food :) but if you are looking to splurge on a cheesy, slightly eggy sausage dish try this one! Also it is able to be cut into squares & makes great lunch sandwiches :)

Easy OREO Truffles

Fantastic! I used white chocolate instead of semisweet. Also I used the food processor to mix in the cream cheese. Then chill for a while to make rolling into balls easier.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
got great reviews from the crowd who had these when i made them. one hint though, if you are using dark colored cake balls then use a dark coating or else they won't turn out so pretty because it is hard to cover dark brown with white chocolate, for example

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
This cake was great! I was a little skeptical, but very pleasantly surprised. This cake is soggy, but it is supposed to be. It is not extremely sweet like most cakes, but it is sweet enough. The cake was pretty straight forward to make & easy, the ingredients are stuff you usually have on hand. I made this for my baby's 1st birthday party for his Mexican Fiesta party & everyone raved about it & asked for the recipe

Pineapple Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
This recipe was delicious. It is a light pineapple taste with some creaminess & a touch of saltiness. Its not overly sweet, but still suitable to be called dessert. I made it as the recipe stated, but as others was a touch confused about directions. I drained well & reserved juices from pineapple. Then I added the dry pudding mix into the well drained pineapple stirring well then adding a touch of juice back in to get a consistency that would spread but hold steady when scooping out. I will have to say, I only made this one time and took it to a gathering that I used to get raves on others dishes but got none on this. I liked it & will make it again for my family.

Chewy Cinnamon Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
I liked the recipe ok. It came together super simple so I'll give it 4 stars for that. It was however hard to really tell when done. I cooked mine for 45 minutes. I rolled on batch in 10x sugar then decided as other reviews said that it was easier to sprinkle a heavy coating on top after I had cut it into squares. Then I let cool a bit and took out the pan. I didn't have extra butter problems others reported, but I used real salted butter. The taste was good, but it wasn't anything more than just a snicker doodle / sugar cookie taste. I don't think I will make these again.

Eggplant Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
This recipe was pretty tasty. I doubled the portions to feed my family of 5 (3 small kids & 2 parents), we only had one portion left over. I am gonna eat that for lunch on bread as a sandwich. The recipe was easy, and a great way to prepare eggplant that wasn't frying it. I do recommend adding salt. I didn't measure anything except oil & just guestimated the rest. I did add extra garlic. I think next time I will just add garlic when doing the layers. You could also leave out the mozzarella if you wanted a lower fat vs.
