Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
With a couple of small changes as per the suggestions of other reviewers (adding 1/4 cup of additional flower and soaking the raisins in warm water prior to adding them), these were the best cookies I've ever made! I'm literally the only one in my house that eats oatmeal raisin cookies and the entire giant batch didn't last 3 days between the four of us. I've been requested to wait at least another month before making them because we all end up eating too many at once. :)

Apple Pecan Cobbler

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I don't know if this can be called an authentic cobbler or not, but it is delicious! I didn't have pecans on hands, so I used walnuts instead. The recipe received rave reviews. The only reason I even got a piece was because I set mine aside first!

Kale and Spinach Saag

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I wanted to write just to provide some linguistic clarity. "Saag" is both the name for the dish and the Punjabi/Hindi word for mustard greens, which are the main component of the dish. If there are no mustard greens, it is not "saag". This could be a "palak" dish (palak means spinach). Also, no South Asian person (myself included) would ever add milk and/or cottage cheese to such a dish. Cubes of paneer can be added. But as this recipe stands, it is entirely inaccurate to call it a saag dish or even any version of a saag dish. This seems be more of an "Indianized" creamed spinach dish.

Absolutely Best Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
I really liked this recipe overall. I doubled it to fit a 9x13 pan, but didn't double the sugar. It was still sweet enough for me. I also added walnuts and peanut butter chips. Unfortunately, I didn't get that shiny crust that usually comes with boxed brownies - the top looked more cake-like. Maybe I'll add an extra egg white next time. However, I decided to make a quick peanut butter frosting with vanilla icing, peanut butter and a couple of tablespoons of milk. It looked great and got lots of compliments!
