Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Wow! This was a big hit at our house... my husband even took leftovers to work the next day to share with his friends. We will definitely be making this again!

Cousin David's Slow Cooker Brisket

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
Not bad, but a little too tangy for us. Maybe only one bottle of chili sauce should be used? With a little brown sugar to balance it?

Asian Rainbow Trout

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
Smelled good while cooking, but surprise! We don't seem to like trout. But it wasn't the fault of the recipe, because it looked attractive and smelled pretty good. Rainbow trout just has way too strong of a fish flavor for my family. If you like it though, I'll bet that this recipe is a good one. Maybe I can try it with another type of fish?

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Broiled Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
My husband loved this... he says he would be happy eating this at least once a week. I'm not a big fish fan, so my vote doesn't really count, but I was able to eat it too. I cut most of the butter out to make it a bit more healthy, but he said that it was still wonderful.

Fabulous Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Yummy! I wasn't sure how this would turn out... it seemed too salty as I was assembling it, but I was very pleased with the end result. I did use low sodium soy sauce though. I'll be repeating it whenever I find the meat on sale!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
This was pretty good. My husband isn't a huge teriyaki fan (which he pointed out when he found out what was for dinner!), but he enjoyed this recipe too. I am planning to reduce the portion size next time, since we had a ton of leftovers.

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
These are awesome! My husband, who so far has refused to eat my homemade mashed potatoes in favor of the boxed stuff, has declared these a keeper. I think that they are really good too.

Sweet Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Mmm... these disappeared in a hurry! I had to use beef bacon, since our family can't have pork, but I think that the flavor was still very good. I just wish I could have convinced the 5 year old to try some!

Country Green Beans

My family liked these pretty well. We can't eat pork, so I substituted beef bacon for the ham, but it still was good.

Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
My family really liked this. I followed the recipe as written, and used thin-cut chicken breasts. Mine browned a little too much in the skillet, even when I reduced the heat a bit, but it didn't really matter, because I transferred the cooked chicken to a pan and topped it with some marinara and mozzarella. 5 minutes on 425 gave it a nice finish without getting soggy like some of the other reviewers. My husband said that his only complaint was that I should have made more of it!

Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Ok... I must admit that I've never actually had Yorkshire Pudding before. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, based on the rave reviews, but this stuff was not very appealing. Maybe there is some user error... it looks pretty edible, but it tastes like flan with no flavor at all. My roast didn't make more than one or two tablespoons of drippings, so maybe that was the problem. The meat looks pretty good (we're letting it rest while I hastily fix another side dish), so here's hoping! Just really has very little flavor at all. - Ok, this one gets three stars because the meat was excellent. We either really don't like Yorkshire pudding, or this one went really wrong, but the meat part of the recipe is wonderful.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Wow! I needed a new recipe for salmon and decided to try this one due to the high rating score, and I can honestly say that it deserves the high ranking. My whole family enjoyed this dish, including my four year old, and it looks beautiful as well. I served it with roasted green beans, pan rolls, and rice pilaf, and was impressed by how quickly it disappeared. Salmon isn't usually great the next day, but my husband warmed up some leftovers (in the microwave, I think!) and said that the flavors blended even better on day two. I know, you'd think it would be gross, huh? But with such a positive reaction, this will be our new number one salmon recipe!

Kimberly's Meaty Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Well, I didn't even do a great job making this, and my family still loved it! I didn't get the onion diced finely enough, so it was in much larger pieces than I thought throughout. I also misread the instructions and only added 1/2 tsp. of worcestershire sauce, rather than 1/2 tbs. This was actually my first go at meatloaf and I flipped it out of the pan wrong, so that it landed upside down, so I was relieved to find that it quickly disappeared! I've just gotta get the onion diced properly next time so that my four year old will eat it too.

Asian Beef Skewers

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
My family absolutely loved these! They disappeared in no time, and I've been informed that they will now be anticipated at least once a month. We fixed soba noodles and sauteed veggies to go with it, and also made one of the terayaki chicken recipes. It was really great! I ended up having to broil them since we don't have an outdoor grill. I let them broil for about three minutes on each side, and they were perfect. They might be even better on a real grill. I tried one or two on my big George Foreman grill, but they were kind of dried up, so we switched to the broiler. I'll definitely be repeating this one!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This recipe got a positive score from three of the four family members... which is pretty hard to do! My 3 1/2 year old didn't care for it very much, even with the skin removed, but the chicken turned out tender and juicy, and it was easy to prepare. Thanks!

Slow-Cooked Short Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2008
For an indulgent recipe, this one is worth the fat and calories. Tender and juicy ribs, with minimal work. I browned the ribs before slow cooking the first time that I made this, but it really isn't necessary.

Steak Fingers

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2008
A little messy and fattening, but my family loves these. We like to use cube steak instead of round steak, since the results are a little more tender.
