My online groceries have arrived!

That's right, next day delivery! I see a few glitches, the fire logs are actually mini fire log starts, the bleach is only 18 oz, and I forgot to take a brand name storage bag out of the shopping cart although I'd found generic alternatives.

Well, it was nice to have them delivery that next morning. Now it's time to cook some lentil soup and tomato salad... we've got vegetarian company in town.

I just looked out my window and saw a grocery gateway truck in my neighbour's driveway, so I thought of this blog. Did you buy any fresh produce? I think that would be the one thing I'd feel funny about...I like to see, smell, and touch the fruits and veggies at the store, and it'd be too weird to not be able to do that when shopping online!

I LOVE lentil soup. My grandmother used to make it for me all the time. But it wasn't exactly vegetarian. But, with my sister being vegetarian, we have made a new version, which I like even better! :]

I use to deliver my groceries. I live in the Middle East, for the time being, and there are a lot of American favorites I just can't get in the grocery stores over here so Netgrocer has been a godsend to me and my family. I can't order anything fresh or frozen from there, because of the distance it has to travel, but to be able to get a taste of home every now and then is just wonderful. It feels like Christmas when the box arrives!

The veggies were okay... but I really do miss the "see, smell, and touch" like you said, DetectiveL! I may get fresh farm produce on a share program at my job vs. get them online. My spinach was a bit floppy :( But I did love the staples getting here... maybe that will be an excuse for me to go to the Pike Place Market on Sundays in the Seattle summer :)

p.s. *Christina* my lentils are getting better and better!! i do like it better with chicken broth tho, using just water wasn't as tasty, maybe a veggie broth would have worked 2 but i only had chicken.

We make ours with veggie broth and add low sodium soy sauce for extra depth. I would prefer chicken broth, but life with a vegetarian is about compromise. :]
