Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Nice and hearty tasting. Added chocolate chips for the kids. Next time will try to half the sugar to brown sugar and use applesauce like others. Overall, nice muffin.

Onion Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
YUM! I added 1/2 cup cream and sauteed some mushrooms with the onions. Next time I will try adding chopped broccoli and/or chicken. What a great base recipe for cream sauces!

Honey Dijon Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Very nice dressing. Tangy and tart but sweet at the same time. Goes well with many kinds of salads, including baby spinach.

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Very nice/comforting, but 1 cup butter is way too much: I used 1/2 cup butter, 4 leeks instead of 2, and used half-and-half instead of heavy cream... and it was still super rich! After it was cooked, I blended 1/4 of the soup in blender, then added it to the remianing soup, because we like chunks in it. The blended quarter thickened it overall nicely, and it became like a delicious thick chowder with chunks, YUM!

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
Excellent! Definetly needs to sit in the fridge for the hours recommended. I added half a red pepper (gives a nice colour) and used half Miracle Whip half Hellman's for the mayo.

Lemon-Lime Mousse

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
I thought this tasted delicious. And like another reviewer mentioned, it actually can be used as icing! After I finished the recipe I couldn't believe it was enough to feed 6 people, but a little does go a long way with this mouse because it's so rich. It's perfect as a refreshing treat after a big meal. It's tart but sweet and quite refreshing! I served fanned strawberries on top.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
Used raisin cinnamon swirl bread, 3 eggs instead of 4, 1/4 white sugar, 1/4 brown sugar, and 2 cups table cream instead of milk. With those changes, this recipe would be a perfect 5. Thanks!

Mandarin Orange Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
YUM! Doubled the batch for a dinner party of 40, it was the first dessert to go. Only thing I will try differently next time is to try orange extract or orange cake mix (for a more orange flavour). Thanks!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
This salad was elegant and delicious. But I think next time i will reduce the sugar to 1/4cup. The dressing tastes better when left a little, or the next day.

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2007
These were fantastic. I added some Zesty Italian dressing to the olive oil and I tossed it all together with the veggies in a container with lid (instead of brushing them). I also broiled the veggies in the oven, and grilled the bread in the oven as well. I didn't have feta on hand, so i used shredded mozzerella and shredded old white cheddar. DELICIOUS!

Baked Fettuccine Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
This pasta dish is delicious. The flavours blend soo nicely together. Only change I make is double the cheese (2 cups each) I find it more moist and yummy that way.

Fatoosh

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2007
I am half-Arab, and I must say that this recipe is as close as it gets to the authentic. I did make a few changes: I first sliced the pita into two faces, cut them into small squares (much nicer for presentation) threw them all in a tupperware container, added about 2 tablespoons olive oil and a good amount of salt, and shook it all up. I then spread the pieces onto a flat cookie pan and baked in the oven for about 10 mins. You can literally eat them as chips when they're done! I always make more as we all like to load them onto our salads! I also run the dressing through a small blender when I'm done, because I prefer it smooth, expecially when I'm using fresh herbs. If you can, let the dressing sit in the fridge for an hour or two, so the flavours can blend well.

Mom's Warm Milk

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2007
My husband and I wanted to drink something warm and sweet tonight but with no caffeine. I came accross this recipe and decided to give it a try. It was delicious and just what we needed on this cold winter's night. I'd cut the sugar to 1 tablespoon next time though, found it a bit too sweet for me, but my husband says it was perfect.

Banana Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
I think this banana bread would have turned out a bit plain if I hadn't done a few alterations - 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and I even added 1/2 cup chocolate chips! It was awesome!

Basil Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
This sauce was yummy. I did the following alterations: doubled the sauce (garlic, basil, cheese & cream) and added 1/4 shredded white cheddar. I also added one red bell pepper when the chicken was almost done, it gives it a very nice flavor.

Green Beans with Cherry Tomatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
I thought this recipe was boring. Maybe because I didn't saute the garlic (I used fresh) long enough in the butter...? I thought the taste was bland. Not sure if I'll give it another try.
