Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
a little bit too much on the vinegar side for us...I'd cut back on that next time.

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
Fantastic...I used cream of mushroom soup and omitted the mushrooms since hubby doesn't like big bits of mushroom, but this was creamy pasta heaven for a date night with him! I'll definitely make this again!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Good, I added some garlic powder, next time I'd probably add a minced clove of garlic. It was good, it just seemed to be missing something on the seasoning side.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Fantastic. I made potato rosemary bread in the bread machine for this, and it worked really well. I also added some of the pan juices from the roasting Turkey to give it something extra. I added an egg and cooked it for about 5 hours on low in my slow cooker.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
I really liked this, I cut back a little on the italian dressing, but it was a really good flavour. I served it over thick cut fresh made granary bread with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream on top. Yummy!

Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
These were completely unremarkable. My husband asked why I didn't just make bisquick biscuits as they were much better. Maybe adding some salt/pepper/herbs would make a difference, but on its own this recipe is not really worth it.

Raspberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
These were good. Really moist muffins- drawback is that you can't eat them warm, they fall apart, you have to wait till they've cooled completely. I used the juice of 1 lemon, added some extra raspberries and some white chocolate chips.

The best and easiest sausage gravy recipe. I make it with bisquick biscuits and my husband asks for this regularly

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
I loved this recipe! I did modify it, because I'm pregnant and have no alcohol in the house. I used 2 cups of beef broth with a capful of red wine vinager and then 1/2 cup of cranberry/raspberry juice. I also added a pinch of rosemary and used fresh garlic. Husband declared that it tasted like "restaurant food" which was a compliment! I used the leftover gravy the next day over beef tips and carrots in my slow cooker and that was awesome. I highly recommend this one.

Sunday Best Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 21, 2007
I've made this cake loads, and it always turns out beautifully. I toss a handful of chocolate chips in the batter and on top. I've also crushed up a Terry's Chocolate Orange and stirred that through. very yummy base chocolate cake recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Reviewed: May 20, 2007
this bars were pronounced "absolute heaven" by my favourite 9 year old. A winner. I also scaled back to a 9x13 pan to get thicker bars and had to bake a little longer to get them done in the middle. fab.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: May 20, 2007
absolutely hands down everything I hoped it would be. My mom makes this for me when I'm home- and this was my first time making it in England. Husband loved it, we gobbled it up. I used bulk sausagemeat and added a bit of parsley and sage, otherwise followed exactly, and it was so gorgeous. :o)

Raspberry Cream Cheese Bars

Reviewed: May 20, 2007
really yummy. the jam doesn't really "spread" over the cream cheese mixture, more of a flop, but it gave a swirly effect which worked nicely. I probably will add either some cinnamon or ginger to the base next time I make these. I felt they were missing a kick. But really really good starter.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2007
This is a great recipe. I omit the pecans as a personal preference and put in a little more cinnamon. I've made it with just oil and found it to be a little greasy, so switched over to using 2/3 cup oil and 1/2 cup of grated apple, and that works just fine. I also use a mix of brown and white sugar-personal preference. Thanks for a yummy carrot cake!

Golden Potato Soup

excellent! I slice and fry sausages and add them to this soup for a really hearty and warming meal. I use a mix of cheddar and red leicester for the cheese. It is perfect comfort food on a cold night.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
This was great, but since I played with the recipe to get a better flavour, I'm only giving it 4 stars. I added a sachet of lipton dry onion soup, and increased the amount of broth. I used 3 garlic cloves and thickened it at the end using some beef gravy granules (bisto). My husband loved it, and it was an excellent and easy recipe, I loved that you didn't need to brown the beef. The beef was still delicious and tender.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
This is excellent. I like my cranberry sauce a little thicker so I skim off some of the liquid, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. I'm asked for this again and again.

Slow Cooker Bean Casserole AKA Sweet Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
I made this for a church lunch and it went down a storm. I've never liked spicy chili so this was great for me. I'm in England, so the baked beans I used had a tomato base, I doubled the recipe, and used 2 tins pork and beans, one tin plain and threw in a tin of butter beans but only used 2 lbs ground beef. I substituted onions for peppers as a personal preference. Thanks for a great base recipe!
