Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
This was pretty good. I did change the recipe though. I used ground turkey instead of beef. And instead of instant potatoes I used the real ones. Instant potatoes don't like me and I can never get them to cook right. Also used only peas and sprinkled with cheddar cheese between the meat and potato layers.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2011
Oh yeah these are great! I did add an extra 1/2 egg, changed the serving size and wasn't going to split an egg. I also added vanilla, ground cloves and some fresh grated nutmeg. Perfect pumpkin flavor, nice fluffy pancakes. I really loved these. I served with Pumpkin Syrup (AR). Thanks for the recipe I'll be making these again!

Pumpkin Syrup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2011
Yummers! I wouldn't really call this a syrup but it is rockin' on pumpkin pancakes. I had to change it based on what I had on hand. I didn't have maple syrup so I used Butter Pecan, no cranberry juice so I used spiced apple cider. Also added about a tsp of vanilla, and about 2T butter. Warmed this up on the stove before serving. So very good! Thanks for the recipe!

Apple Puff Pancake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
Yum! It was different but in a good way. I've never had a puff pancake so I don't have anything to compare it with. I did add about a teaspoon of sugar into the pancake batter (double recipe) along with some vanilla. Baked these in 2 9 inch cake pans. The syrup was really thin at first so I added a TBS of brown sugar then just let it simmer on the stove until it had thickened up a little bit. It never got syrupy thick but it was better than what it was a first. Thank you for the recipe I will make this again.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
These are excellent. I wanted a different granola bar than my usual one. I came across this one and since I have a ton of PB it was perfect. I did change it up just a little bit. I used 1/2 honey and 1/2 corn syrup, left out sunflower seeds and the raisins, family doesn't like raisins, so I subbed walnuts and banana chips. These were definitely a hit with the family. I doubled the recipe and baked it in a half sheet pan. I'll definitely be making these again. Thanks for the recipe!

Crescent Pizza Pockets

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
Yummy. I liked these. Quick pizza snack/dinner. I think next time though I would use the mini pepperoni's and mix them with the cheese and add some veggies. Olives, green peppers, mushrooms. There is a lot you could do with this. Kids loved them. Thanks for the recipe.

Beef and Bean Crescent Burritos

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
These were okay. Kind of dry. It could have used some green chilies, maybe some cream cheese? I didn't really like these but the kids really liked them. Don't think I would make these again.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
This was pretty good. I did have to change it just a bit. I used chicken broth instead of wine, and since I didn't have cream cheese with chives I just used cream cheese and dried chives. Added garlic and onion powder. Doubled the sauce, and thinned it out with a little bit of half and half. When the chicken was almost done I topped each breast with some shredded mozzarella. Thanks for the recipe.

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
When I was organizing my pantry I came across a box of spice cake, wasn't sure what to do with it so I came to AR to find something delicious and easy to do with it. This seemed like an interesting recipe and super easy so I went with this. Then I changed it. I had also found a box of pumpkin spice pudding so I added that into the mix, then added 3 eggs, and about a cup of cinnamon chips. Baked this in 2 9 inch pans for 25 minutes, frosted with Cream Cheese Frosting (AR) and dusted with cinnamon. Yummy. Gotta love the cleaning out pantry days! Thanks for the recipe!

Creamy PHILLY Rose Penne

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
As is not the greatest dish. I needed something quick and easy and I found this recipe. I changed it a ton after tasting the sauce. I added extra cream cheese, some cream to thin out the mix a bit, garlic, onion, and some Italian Cheeses. I had bits of parm, provolone, mozzarella and a bit of asiago cheeses in the fridge so I used a bit of everything. After all that this was pretty good.

Chicken Fusilli with Spinach and Asiago Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
This was okay. Not sure why but the flavor was just off for me. I added some extra garlic and minced onions. Also used Parm cheese instead of Asiago since that's what I had on hand, oh and I doubled the sauce.

Hot Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
Easy and pretty good. The kids wanted something chocolatey for dessert one night and I was out of butter and short on flour. I found this recipe in my search. Glad I did. This was really good, very easy to put together, my kids did most of the work. Yummy with a scoop of ice cream. Thanks for the recipe!

This was good, I did leave out the jalapeno since I'm not a fan of them but I left everything else the same. It was an easy dish and tasted good. Thanks for the recipe!

Fabulous Wet Burritos

I'm glad I finally tried this recipe. Its really good, I've been looking at it for about a year. I did cut out the tomato soup and added an extra 1/2 can of enchilada sauce. I baked them instead of microwaving. Easy and a big hit with my family, served this with Mexican Rice III (AR)

Out of this World Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
Good and easy. I used only Veggie spirals for the pasta. I could not find Romanesco broccoli so I used regular, only used green bell pepper, added red onions, cucumbers and broccoli slaw. Also skipped cutting out shapes in the veggies, I was short on time. I had to use a lot more dressing than what was called for but then I always overdo the veggies. I really enjoyed the Light dressing.

Pumpkin Scones

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
My husband loved these. He kept eating them, and telling me how good they were. I was a little worried about the recipe after reading the reviews but I had no problems with it. I did have to sub the self-rising flour since I never buy the stuff. I mixed 3 1/2 c All purpose flour, 2T Baking powder and 2t salt, then went ahead with the recipe. They rose very well for me. Also just used a 15oz can of pumpkin. Instead of cutting into rounds, because I'm lazy, I placed the dough on a sheet of parchment paper, pressed it out into a rectangle and then used an oiled pizza cutter to cut it into squares and then baked it. Sprinkled the tops with a little sugar before baking. They came out perfect. I personally wanted a little more spice to them but when I mentioned that to hubby he glared at me. Served this with Cinnamon Honey Butter (AR). Will make these again. Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Tetrazzini

Definitely needs to be thickened more, my kids called it soup. I also think it needs more seasoning. It was a little bland. I thought it was okay but my family didn't like it.

Fruit Salad with Vanilla Yogurt

Mmmm Yummy. Really what's not to love here? Fresh fruit and yogurt. Fantastic. I got the best produce (lucky me) on sale (luckier me)! So I had to make this recipe. We couldn't stop eating it. Breakfast, snack, dessert all rolled into one recipe. Thanks!

Doberge Cake (Dobash)

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
This was really good. Very sweet. I only made 2 layers then split each layer so ended up with a 4 layer cake. Pure laziness on part since it was late and I didn't want to wait for 5 cakes to bake and cool. I thought the frosting was a little to sweet so I would cut the sugar in that. I think combined with the pudding and frosting it just seemed like a bit to much sweetness. Also I used heavy cream in place of the milk. Think I probably used about 3 T of milk. It was very easy to prepare but I think I'll look for this recipe with everything made from scratch. But for an easy and quick cake this was pretty good. Thanks for the recipe!
