The Bison Experience

Sep. 30, 2013 9:01 pm

I love trying new foods. I also love sharing new foods with family. This month I had the opportunity to try Bison. For the first recipe I invited my cousin and her family over for dinner to try it with us. I chose Bison Fajitas. We grilled the bison instead of cooking it on the stove. Oh my, I cannot say enough about how delicious these were. I didn't make the guacamole salad because well...Ick avocados.

The second recipe I tried was the Asian Noodle Bowl. I shared this with my mom, Auntie, and cousin. I honestly wasn't thrilled with the peanut butter sauce. The bison however was great. But the family liked the sauce so I guess they win, I'm overruled. I was glad they enjoyed it. I did think it needed a little extra heat added in. I ate my bison and passed on the noodles.

So if you ever get the opportunity to try Bison go for it. Its delicious. I wish it was more available in the grocery stores. Something to look forward to.

About Me
I am a stay at home mom with three beautiful kids. I love cooking and I am always looking for something new to cook for my family. My husband was thrilled when I found this website cause I have a tendancy to buy any cookbook I see!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons because I can always have something in the oven. I also love crockpot dinners as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday cooking is the best. I love cooking the dessert my grandmother taught me how to make when I turned 14. Every year at Christmas and Thanksgiving I can hear her telling me what to do and how to do it, I can also feel her smack when I stirred the wrong way! Hehe.
My cooking triumphs
I have always been afraid of frying foods after a couple disastrous attempts at it when I was younger, my fingers always seemed to go into the oil, I have finally started trying frying foods. I am just a lot more cautious. Now I am trying to figure out muffins and pies, and different types of deserts. I think I have finally figured out cheesecake (yay!me).
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving I was making Ham in the Slow Cooker. About an hour before we were supposed to eat my son asks "Mom did you want the Crockpot plugged in?" Whoops! We had a bunch of yummy sides though :) Now every time I make something in the slow cooker my family asks if I plugged it in :)
