Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
I might be the first one here to admit that I did not use the cumin sauce. After making it, I thought it would overpower the dish, so left it out. The merinated fish in lime juice made the final product so refreshingly tasty. Other than that, followed the recipe exactly and was IN LOVE with this dish! Oh, actually, I did stray from the recipe a little more now that I think about it. I used corn instead of flour tortillas (more authentic). Of course, I also added fresh avocado slices to each taco. So AMAZING!I will make this forever.

Fresh Strawberry Pie III

Whole family ejoyed this a lot. Didnt have strawberry gelatin, used raspberry instead. Yum. Followed others' idea, and put a layer of cream cheese between the crust and filling. Such a good idea!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
I took an other's suggestion and used 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar in place of the regular sugar. I had absolutlely NO problem with piping this frosting and it was DELICIOUS!

Old-Fashioned Italian Zucchini Fritters

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
We all thought these were really good. I squeezed out the excess water like suggested and added crushed red pepper flakes. Like I said, we liked them and will make again, but needs a little something more. I guess I will keep experementing.

Personal Portobello Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
really good. I followed the advice of not washing the shrooms, rather wiping them with paper towel. Baked for 10 mins, then added toppings. Not watery this way.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
I dont think I've seen this comment yet, so here goes... VERY important to use bread flour as stated. I used all purpose the first time. Tasted good, but looked ugly. Tried a second time, same results. Purchased bread flour, and goodness! What a difference! Looked GORGEOUS and tasted better than with AP flour. So there you go, tastes fine with AP, but use bread flour for better taste and appearance. Enjoy!

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
We all enjoyed this. I combined a lot of other reviews and did the following... 2 cups chicken broth, 1 and half teaspoons cumin, and added cheese once served. If I would have had cilantro, I would have added that too. My 10 year old had seconds and loved it. Very satisfied over all!

Instant Oatmeal Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
We enjoy this a lot. I like the idea of having preservative free flavored oatmeal at home. I usually make regular oatmael at home because the flavored stuff at the store has so much sugar and preservatives. With this recipe you can control the sugar amount (I used half and still tasted great). I just wish I could figure out how to make strawberry flavored, peach, etc.

Green Slime Smoothie

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
The only difference I made was sub regular sugar for the honey because I was out. I used about 1 tablespoon sugar. This was what was for dinner last night with a sclice of homemade banana bread. The kids liked it a lot. I love the idea of drinking fresh, raw spinach and not even tasting it! Heres yet another great way to add raw green veggies to our diets on this site! Thanks

this was good and healthy. I used all fresh herbs as others commented. I went with the can of diced tomatoes but also added some fresh tomatoes for more juice.

Split Pea Soup with Tofu

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
All I had was lentils to work with so used those. I had to cut back on the cooking time, maybe 45 minutes tops. I have never made a more delicious lentil soup. My kids had seconds after having it for lunch and dinner on the same day! Even lentil soup with ham or other meats havent come close to how good this is. BTW it is better the next day or even after about 10 hours or so. Try it!

Brown Rice Breakfast Porridge

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I think that this recipe is a really good idea. I think its a great way to get the kids off to school with a nutricious meal in their bellies and not the sugar bomb that cereal is. That said, my kids didnt like it. That wont keep me from giving it to them every now and then though. I liked it by the way.

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
my doggies were "ok" with these. Kind of pushed them around a bit, but finally ate them. The dough is great to work with, nice consistancy. Oh, I did use someone's advice and subbed penut butter for the broth. Next time maybe I will strictly follow the recipe. Really cute though.

Italian Restaurant-Style Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
This was great! Im so glad I made it. Because of all the mixed reviews, I was afraid mine would fail like so many others did. I was wrong. Tasted very similar to Olive Gardens. So refreshing and delicious! I followed others' ideas and blended the vinegar and lemon juice first, then added the rest. Definitley a keeper!

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
These are great! I melted a bag of Hershey's semi sweet chocolate chips instead of the squares it asked for. Also, I melted the butter it asks for and mixed that right in to the perfect consistany dough. Every one that tried these said that they tasted like Reese's penut butter cups without knowing that the previous person had already said the same thing! The Hershey's chocolate chips I'd say is responsible for that.

Chicken and Rice Pot Pie

Tasty. Im sure if I would have made it as is, it would have been great too. I used just one can soup and regular whole grain wheat rice (pre- cooked). Just to make it healthier. We all enjoyed it.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

This was an amazing loaf! I didnt have the nuts, but I bet it would have turned out even better with them. For the drizzle on top I used freshly squeezed grapefruit juice instead of orange. So delightful! Cut the cranberries in half BTW.
