About this Cook
Hello, all! I am a happily married 50 year old Celtic lass just west of Boston who LOVES to cook and find new recipes. I have four grown 'young people' who love to come 'home' for mom's cooking. Recently, I started to do special occasion cakes, shower cakes, birthdays, etc. They've been a hit, so far! I find it exciting to try new recipes and am always looking for that 'keeper'!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake. In fact, one of my recipes won a blue ribbon in a county fair when I was living in New Hampshire. With fall upon us, I have been getting more interested lately in slow cooker meals and hearty one pot meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies of every variety served on an elegant platter and passed around on Christmas eve. Putting a variety in a gift container makes a nice homemade gift, as well. During the holiday season, special friends and family members love to get my Dark Rum Cake.
My cooking triumphs
Dark Rum Cake, Whoopie Pies, Wedding Cakes, Pilgrim Pie, Yankee Pot Roast, Honey-Pecan Chicken, Mom's Homemade Mashed Potatoes, etc.
My cooking tragedies
When I was just married, (eons ago), I TRIED to make minute steaks...went to the gym, and came back to charcoal briquettes. Guessed that was why they were called MINUTE STEAKS!
