Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
Wow, I thought the title was a bit much but this was incredibly chocolate. The way I made it (with chocolate butter cream frosting & raspberry preserves in between the sliced layers) made it TOO MUCH chocolate (I couldn't finish my piece entirely) -- however, I went ahead & gave it 5 stars becuase I got awesome reviews from the co-workers. Next time I make it, I'll just be putting a glaze on it instead of the buttercream frosting -- it will still be very chocolatey!!!

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
This dish was so great I just HAD to give it a review. It was simply fabulous! I made it for my entire family the morning after Christmas and it was a big hit. My husband is not a huge fan of sweet breakfast foods and even he loved it. I asked my sister to rate it on a 1 to 10 scale & she gave it a 12. I took the suggestion of another reviewer and instead of cubing the cheese, I spread it onto the bread 1st then cut the bread into chunks. I only used 1.5 pkgs of cream cheese and was very happy with the results. I also (since some reviewers thought it was soggy) used a loaf of french bread -- stayed with just 12 slices but cut them thick like texas toast & used 3/4 of the loaf. Perfect! I tried to time the syrup and french toast to be done at the same time..... Next time, I'll wait til it comes out of the oven & THEN make the syrup thereby giving that scalding hot cream cheese time to cool just a tad before serving. It was funny watching everyone waller it around in their mouths cause it was so hot -- until it was my tongue of course! The picture shown with the recipe does NOT compliment the dish. If you have any doubts.... toss them aside & give this a try!!

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Nice and juicy with great flavor (basil is a favorite of mine) -- however be sure to have a spray bottle on hand while grilling... the olive oil makes the flames flare up even more than usual.

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2006
I made this cake for a birthday at our office & is was loved!! It was very time consuming to make but yummy!! The very tart lemon filling complimented the sweet frosting (I added 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the frosting & am glad i did!). The cake is a bit dry but I feel it was a great match for the gooey/sweetness of the rest of the cake & perhaps needs to be such to keep from soaking up the filling. I thought the frosting looked too thin in the photo so I made a batch & a half -- while frosting I thought "i'm glad a made extra" but while eating I thought "didn't really need that extra frosting". I'll definitely make this again for my lemon mereinge pie loving sister.
