Married to a Glaswegan and living in Scotland since 2004. Before that I lived in Colorado for 10 years and hope to call that home again within the next few years. I've been diagnosed with a bad case of the travel bug and I'm always dreaming of my next adventure.
My favorite things to cook
I certainly have my domestic moments when I can spend a large part of the day cooking up a storm, but since I work fulltime, during the week I try and cook something that's quick, easy and healthy. I love this website - it helps to see what other reviewers liked or disliked. I get lots of hints on what to use that is in my cupboard and saves me from running to the grocery store.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was a great cook and I wish I would have paid more attention when I was growing up. Her cooking skills are legendary in my mind and in those of my extended family. Holidays were filled with family, friends and lots of food. She always tried to please everyone by making everyones favorite pie or dessert. I love cooking big meals for lots of family and friends. Every year I try and copy her holiday traditions and her onion and sage stuffing and although it comes out pretty good it's still not moms.
My cooking triumphs
There's been quite a few and when I'm asked for a recipe or when someone goes for seconds or thirds I know I've succeded. One of the best though is my when my stepson, a very picky eater, told me I make the best hamburgers in the world and often request banana bread! So if I can get him to try something and I get his approval...I've done good.
My cooking tragedies
There's been lots of these that are better left forgotten. My poor husband has become my guinea pig but has never refused to try anything. He's probably just happy that he has someone to cook for him and takes the good with the bad.
