Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
Wow! What a great flavor! I was a little skeptical at first but this has turned out to be one of my favorites! Didn't measure since I halved it...just used the spices and technique and played it by "feel"....it's fantastic!

Beef and Biscuit

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
I've made this recipe for years and love it. You can put whatever you like in the meat (serrano peppers or mushrooms or corn, etc). I've always used Grands biscuits and stretched them out a bit to cover the top and bottom. A great southern dish.

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
This was great! Cut the soy sauce in half and it was still almost too salty but it was still delicious. Made gravy out of the juice the next day and had hot beef sandwiches. The third day made beef & noodles out of it. Wonderful!

Spicy Chile Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
This was really good! Had some chicken we had boiled the night before in boullion (however you spell it) and seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder & pepper. Was looking for something to do with it besides chicken & dumplings & found this recipe. Used Rotel with lime & cilantro & didn't have any green chiles but used hot cherry peppers instead. Added a teaspoon of garlic because we like it and about a tsp of kosher salt. Put some crushed tortilla chips on the bottom of the dish & layered as instructed with the addition of cheese in the middle. Man, it was mmm mmm good! Just enough kick to make it interesting & not overly spicy. Thanks for posting this, Beverly!

Spanish Rice I

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
Love this stuff! I did add minced garlic along with the bell pepper and onion and used a mexican spiced tomato sauce. Also added about a half cup of chicken broth (from bouillion) after i accidentally used more rice than I should have. It definitely takes longer than five minutes to cook the rice using regular rice...you just need to check it after about 20 minutes or so. Be sure to brown the rice before you add in the veggies. It was absolutely delicious...good enough to eat all by itself!

Lemonade Pie III

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
This was okay. I did make it with crushed lemon cookies for the crust as another suggested and added lemon instant pudding to the filling but it still didn't seem lemony enough. I'll make it again on a hot day but it's not one of our favorites.

Grilled Chuck Steak

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
I marinated this overnight and my husband put it on the grill...i don't know if the problem was that he cooked it too fast (probably) or what the deal was...it was still tough and almost inedible even though it was a bit on the medium rare side. This might have worked for some of you but i'll stick with using chuck steak for soups and a slow cooked roast!

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
Pretty darned good stuff! Just don't overdo the cloves like i did the first time i made this. Also, i added a tad bit of basil and some black pepper the second time around and it was very, very good! I added the basil because i was short on sage and felt like i needed to make up for it. Whether or not it made a big difference doesn't really matter as long as the taste came out alright in the end - and it certainly did. Thanks, Lee...we won't be buying sausage from the store any more.

Mini Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
I guess I should have known better than to expect these to taste as good as I remembered. They didn't cut it for me...mainly because it tasted just like what it was - a box cake. They looked cute but cuteness doesn't make up for the boxed cake mix taste. Sorry...this one won't be gracing my kitchen again.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
How can anyone say this cake was dry?! It was moist and delicious but then again i did add a little coffee to it and maybe just a tad more sour cream. Also, we dribbled some kahlua over the cake while it was still warm and my husband went nuts for this cake! Thanks, Denise!

Apple Spice Cake

This is a very very moist and delicious cake...especially on day 2 and 3 if it lasts that long! I added a little more cinnamon but otherwise kept to the recipe and had absolutley no complaints!

Irene's Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This has got to be the best barbeque sauce recipe i've ever run across on this site! My mother had a recipe very similar to this one but i think this one has it beat. I do add a tbsp of molasses and use 1 tbsp splenda brown sugar. Otherwise, no other changes. I've used it on pulled pork and grilled chicken now...can't see using any other bbq sauce recipe ever again! Thanks for a great post!

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
My husband saw this featured and asked me to make it for him. After reading the reviews, I followed suggestions and cooked the chicken and bacon first. When I started with the sauce, I could tell it wouldn't be enough as we were using linguine instead of bowtie pasta and my hubby likes a lot of sauce so I doubled ingredients (didn't measure, just poured) and poured the half not used on chicken, etc into the linguine pot. Man! Was this ever flavorful and delicious! Will make again and again when I have an hour and half to spare for cooking this dish. It definitely takes longer to prepare than stated, but well worth the time and effort
