Banana Cream Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
I tried several other banana cream pies to find one for Thanksgiving and after a lot of soupy pies that tasted good but never quite set, we found a winner! Good thing, too, because we had just about had enough. This pie, cooked until very thick, worked great. It was easy to make, easy to serve, and tasted great. I didn't use meringue, so just cooled it and served with whipped cream. I will keep a can of sweetened condensed milk on hand so I can have all but the bananas on hand for an "emergency" pie.

Broccoli Cashew Salad

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
Could there be any stranger combination of ingredients? Probably not. Could they taste any better together? Probably not! Tastes just like Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation's broccoli salad or the one you get at Costco.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
Loved the salad. I would use only half the salad dressing next time.

With a pastry bag and a little imagination, it can look store-bought

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
Made this for Christmas (23 people!) and it was the only thing I didn't have leftovers of. I even made a practice batch with peeled brown potatoes for my daughter (she doesn't want to see any potato skins) and she would be happy making an entire meal out of just these mashed potatoes. Great garlic taste and I love the idea of adding parmesan.

Coconut Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
I used Grandma's Secret Pie Crust with this and was pleased with the consistency of this pie. Like others, I toasted the coconut for the top (a MUST!). I thought the flavor of the filling just wasn't there. My grocery store doesn't carry coconut pudding, but this pie was easy and great in all other ways so I will try it again when I find coconut pudding.

Southwestern Turkey Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
I'm all about easy, so I cut the tortillas (used fewer) into 1" pieces and mixed them with all the other ingredients. I added some garlic powder. Easy to add/remove ingredients for personal preferences. Tasted great.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2012
I tried this recipe twice, once with flour and once with cornstarch. I loved the taste, but was not able to get the consistency right. I boiled the heck out of it, and have to wonder if bananas "weep" because what started out fine ended up a soggy mess when it came out of the refrigerator. The taste was great, but I would make individual tart shells instead of serving it as a pie.

Sesame Parmesan Zucchini

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
I left out the cayenne (don't really care for spicy vegetables) and I sprinkled some shredded romano on top, which browned beautifully. If you like this recipe, you've GOT to try it with asparagus. YUM!!
