I am a "simple cook" who likes to whip up something with only a few fresh ingredients. i cook for my husband and myself but used to cook for a family. I often experiment with recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I just experimented with bread pudding after having a soggy, over-sweet serving at an upscale restaurant. I made my version healthier with multigrain bread, less sugar and an orginal serving idea.
I always use fresh, from-scratch ingredients.
I love to create sauces for meat and fish.
Really like to present an attractive plate with color and variety.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother didn't cook the food I now like to eat. So I have few traditions, even improvising on old favorites.
I don't follow fads (i.e., green chiles in everything!).
I like quick simple healthy dishes with a little something extra for fun.
My cooking triumphs
See my new recipe "Lo-Cal Bread Pudding."
My greatest triumph is that I enjoy eating my own cooking more than going to a nice restaurant!
My cooking tragedies
Lo-Cal healthy muffins. I have tried EVERYTHING but it seems some sugar and fat are essential for the real thing. I keep trying.
