Brookville Hotel Cream-Style Corn

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Finally a simple recipe that doesn't just use canned corn. I needed to use some ears that were starting to shrink up and this was perfect. I used 4 ears of corn, cut off the cob and processed a little, a can of evaporated milk and followed the rest of the recipe. The flavor is wonderful but since I used fresh corn I think it should cook longer depending on the texture you want. The 20 minutes still gave it a crunch which I like but simmering an extra 10 or so probably wouldn't hurt.

I never knew what to do with those pork spare ribs but this was amazing. I've made it twice already, my husband loved it.

Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I made this vegetarian style with fake ground beef and it was the best shepherds pie I've ever made. I like to use lima beans, corn and green beans, or whatever is leftover in the fridge. Will make this again for sure.

Chicken Paprikash

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
The sauce for this was fabulous but there were way too many dumplings. I've never made drop dumplings before and they came out too dense. Will definitely make the sauce again, maybe for pork chops.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Oh wow...these are the best peanut butter cookies ever. Of course Pampered Chef's stoneware makes every batch better. I cut this in half and still got almost 3 dozen out of it. Great!

Valentino's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
This was just a little different from another crust I make but my husband said it was harder to manipulate. Is there not a recipe out there for a crust that can be tossed? Tasted great though!

Veggie Pot Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I used this as a basis for my pot pie. I used chicken broth since that's all I had and after all, the purpose of pot pie is to make one big meal out of lots of little things left over. I used a biscuit topping and this was a big hit! Thanks

Creamy Carrot Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Very good and fun to make. I quadrupled the recipe but only used 2 cups of broth like many suggested and replaced a cup of the carrots for a cup of celery. I also added cayenne and maybe a bit too much, it was really spicy but I like a dollop (or more) of sour cream and that cuts the heat. I would have cut the dill in half, it kind of over-powered the soup. I think a covering of dill as a garnish would have been enough and more presentable.

Creamy Turnip With Paprika Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This was a great success! I made this with 1 lb. of turnips and 1 lb. of carrots because I needed to use up some things. I did not make the shallots and it was still wonderful, I served it with french bread which soaked up the soup nicely. This was an easy recipe, I didn't even have to shop for ingredients, and so much fun to make. I prepared the ingredients for the later steps while it sauteed. Can't wait to make it again and experiment with other veggies.

Chocolate Pie I

Delicious!! I used a different recipe for the meringue but the chocolate filling, which can double as homemade pudding, was great. The family raved over it.

This is AWESOME!! and my husband is questioning me for witchcraft after making it. I used it to top a chocolate meringue pie, I had some extra and made little drops of divinity. It tasted like toasted marshmallows. YUM!

This is the perfect breakfast for Saturday mornings. The body of it was like a custard while the apples gave it a great balance of sweetness. I will be making this again.

I've never made brownies from scratch before so I went perfectly by the recipe minus the nuts and it turned out GREAT! A little cakier than I prefer but moist and BODACIOUS! And so easy, satisfied my craving for baking and chocolate.

Granny's Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
This turned out GREAT! I used a packet of mushroom gravy mix instead of the onion soup mix because that's what I had and it was wonderful. The tomato based sauce really makes this dish. I love mushrooms so I will add more the next time I make this. Super dish!

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
This recipe was excellent, although it's not easy to peel an uncooked squash. This is absolutely delicious served with french bread and a dollup of sour cream. I will be making this one again!!
