Sweet Pork Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2013
Absolutely delicious chili but I recommend adding crushed red pepper and/or cayenne pepper for heat. We added both because at first taste we thought it was missing something and the heat was it. Highly recommend this recipe. Different but terrific!

Crustless Cranberry Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2013
Are you kidding me? This has to be one of the easiest and yummiest recipes on this site. I used maybe 3 cups of frozen cranberries I had in my freezer, but used a package of slivered almonds because it's what I had in the pantry. Also took another reviewer's advice and added a half vanilla extract and fourth almond. It was so good hot and room temperature. Everyone must make this it ROCKS.

Tater Tot Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2013
This recipe is definitely a hit. I know some people might turn their noses up at tater tot casserole but seriously it should be tried at least once. I made this a few months ago, added some green chiles as others did and wow was it good. I think I will make it again this week with ground chicken or turkey to change it up a little bit. Being from Texas I love the Mexican flavors that were added to it, makes it so much better. Great recipe, thanks!

Gypsy Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
I made this soup this weekend. It was very flavorful. When I was reading off the ingredients my boyfriend said he didn't think he was going to like it, boy was he wrong. We both loved it. I used 3 sweet potatoes becuase I thought more would be better. Used soy sauce for the tamari, used curry for the tumeric because that's what I had on hand. I crocked it for 8 hours in the large crock pot, very happy with the results, as with almost all of the recipes on this site.

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
This was a very good recipe. I had to modify it a little based on what I had and my preferences. I put a whole (small) bottle of Italian Dressing with the chicken and they crocked for 4 hours. Then I added a whole carton of fresh sliced button mushrooms because I don't really like the canned ones. Added a can of cream of chicken AND can of cream of mushroom soup because I wanted lots of gravy, and added only 1/2 of an 8oz. box of cream cheese. Let that crock for 1 more hour. My boyfriend shredded the chicken right in the crockpot with all the gravy and we served it over spaghetti. Easy and good.

Paleo Slow Cooker Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
Me and my boyfriend loved this dish. I followed another reviewer and added some chunk pineapple and juice. Served over Basmati rice from World Market. I will make again because the mix of flavors was so good BUT I would prefer a little kick from a pinch of cayenne next time. Still gets 5 stars smelled so good while cooking. :)

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2012
Made this for my boyfriend on Saturday night. It was easy and wonderful. I only used about 1/3 of the box of macaroni because we like it creamy. I used sharp cheddar. It was great, thanks Chef John. I love his videos/recipes. Too good.

Seven Layer Tex Mex Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
Followed to the letter EXCEPT I left out the mayo because I just didn't think it belonged in this dish. I must say this was delicious and so easy. My boyfriend raved and said it was the best 7-layer he's ever had because of the taco seasoning in the beans and sour cream. This is coming with me to the next party I go to. Thanks so much.

Cherry Crunch

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
This was very good. Took another reviewer's advice and used a bag of frozen dark cherries and a can of tart pie cherries and mixed those together with no sugar and put the crust only on the top. Served it with ice cream. Very easy and flavorful dessert.

Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2012
Absolutely wonderful gumbo. Followed as written just added Tobasco at the end. It gets better the next day as the rice and veggies get softer and the flavors settle. It makes a lot but we made it meatless, pretty figure friendly. My boyfriend said he wants me to make it again in the future and add scotch bonnets for heat. Thanks for the great recipe.

Cottage Cheese Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
Wonderful! Been wanting to make these for a long time, finally did tonight for dinner. Followed another reviewer and slow cooked 3 chicken breasts with 1/2 a beer, cumin, garlic, pepper and cinnamon. Then followed the recipe as written. Wow, it was so good. The cottage chesse mixture melts into this rich creamy filling that is amazing. Wow. I'm so proud of this dish and will make again.

Lasagna Alfredo Roll Ups

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
I have been wanting to make these for the longest time and I finally did last night. WONDERFUL! Followed the recipe to the letter except for one thing: took another reviewer's advice and poured a small jar of marinara sauce in the bottom of the baking dish. It combines with the Alfredo sauce to make a slightly creamy tomato sauce. Wow! Thank you for such a great dish! We used 2 jars of Alfredo sauce on the top, regular and one with roasted garlic also.

Baked Omelet

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
Wow, this was delicious. My boyfriend makes a similar receipe and I thought his was good but this was fantastic. We used half cheddar and half pepper jack as the cheeses because that's what we had on hand. Also we threw in 1 minced scallion because we didn't have dried minced onion and it added just the perfect onion flavor. Other than that we didn't stray from the original recipe. Thanks for this, what a great Sunday breakfast.

Firecracker Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
Me and my boyfriend made this for dinner one night and really liked it but i'm only giving it 4 stars because I thought it was a little too salty. Next time I will leave out the 1/2 t of salt. Also we prefer corn tortillas and that's what we used instead of flour. Overall a keeper that was very tasty.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
I've only been doing this for a week and combined with walking every other night I can see a difference. I don't care for tomato juice and the 1st day I made the soup I didn't like it but after it sat overnight it mellowed out and tasted much better. I finished last week's batch and made a new batch yesterday with spicy V8 juice, garbanzo beans, and my boyfriend spiced it up for me with garlic, pepper and some other spices like parsley and Italian Seasoning. I think I will like this week's batch much better.

Slow Cooker Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
DELICIOUS. Made a few changes though based on my tast and what I had on hand. Used Chicken broth instead of water. Sauteed onions, celery, potatos, carrots and several cloves of garlic in butter before placing in the crock pot. Added a bag of frozen corn, a can of creamed corn and 1/2 a ring of kielbasa with salt, pepper, and marjoram. Wow what a meal!

Beef and Irish Stout Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This was very good and I will make it again but next time I will cut down on the beer to about 1/2 and use beef stock for the remaining liquid. I thought the Guinness was a little strong. Also will add some Worhestershire. Now my boyfriend loves Guinness so he adored the dish, over mashed potatos was a winner with him.

Gumbo Style Chicken Creole

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
Delicious, but I modified it based on other reviews. I added celery instead of mushrooms. Added a whole can of chicken broth because I thought it was too thick. Doubled all sauces and spices and served it over white rice. Oh and I also added a teaspoon of thyme and used a red instead of green pepper because I like red better. IT WAS AWESOME!

Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Wow! What a great recipe and so easy. Me and my boyfriend made this for dinner the other night and were amazed by the flavor. I added more chicken broth, tomato sauce, and frozen mixed vegetables the next night to the leftovers to stretch it and it only got better. Thanks for the great soup!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
Wow, what a great recipe! Me and by bf made this for our Thanksgiving turkey. We used a 4.86 pould turkey breast. He made his own rub similar to an onion soup rub. We sauteed onions, celery, and carrots first and added some white wine. Seared the turkey for a little bit in the pan and added everything to the slow cooker, high for the 1st hour, low for about 3.5. It was moist and juicy, the meat fell apart like a roast. Very impressed and was able to use the oven for our sides. Yummy!
