Good, but I'd go easy on the garlic next time.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
YUM! And very affordable!! I already had all the ingredients in my cabinet!! I doubled the oregano and the cumin, added about 1 tsp dried cilantro and used smoked paprika and regular paprika, both. It makes it a little spicy, but not too much for the kids.

Hot and Sour Tofu Soup (Suan La Dofu Tang)

We thought this was great; thanks a lot--it was very quick and easy to make. I did not use the citric acid.

Fried Rice with Cilantro

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2014
This is PERFECT!!!! Love, love, love! For an entree, it's great with the chicken, but if you like it as a side dish, I recommend sauteing mushrooms, carrots, and any other veggies you like. The sky's the limit; you could add anything from toasted almonds to tofu. Thank you! I will def make this again. I omitted the green chiles and fish sauce when I made it for my kiddos.

Simple Pork and Cabbage Skillet

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2014
This recipe was good in a pinch, because I had cabbage to use up, but the flavor was rather bland for our taste.

Chayote Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
We enjoyed this recipe, even though I substituted butternut squash for the chayote, since I couldn't find it. Also, I pureéd the soup with an immersion blender, which made it very creamy. We liked it with diced jalapeños and Greek yogurt! Thank you!

Fish and Chips

Just great! I used cod instead of snapper, which was yummy, too. Very simple and easy and everyone gobbled it right up! My hubby likes with malt vinegar. Thanks!

The Sarge's Goetta - German Breakfast Treat

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2014
LOVE!!!!!! This is such a great breakfast--I love that it combines the protein of the meats with the stick-to-your-ribs oatmeal. This recipe is a definite winner with the whole family--even my one-year old loves it. Thank you so much. My one comment is that with this recipe, the Sarge is definitely feeding his army. I cut the recipe in half and still ended up with enough to put in the freezer for the future. Thanks!

Country House Bed and Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2014
This was delicious! My only change was to reduce the amount of butter used; this calls for way too much. Thanks for a great recipe; we had it with bacon and ham.

Bayrischer Schweinebraten (Bavarian Roast Pork)

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2014
We made this as a crock pot recipe; just basically threw it all in (except corn starch, butter and green onion) with enough water to cover pork loin about 2/3 of the way. The juices can then be combined on the stove top with the remaining ingreds for a gravy. YUM! Really good with creamy mashed potatoes.

Southern Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
I made a couple of modifications, which I highly recommend and the result was exactly what I was craving; the perfect wintry day comfort food! I added 4 carrots and 4 sticks of celery, because I just love the veggies in this soup. I used 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts and substituted lard for the shortening. Lastly, I used 2 cans of cream of chicken soup (look for the kind with herbs) and eliminated the water and the salt. Thanks!! I will definitely make this again!!!

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
I didn't think there was much flavor going on here...I added a bunch of veggies and fried tofu, but I would prefer there was a more flavorful sauce, rather than just soy.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2013
I used a cookie tray for baking these, which is very important if you like them crispy! I cut each red potato in half for more crispy edges, but just tossed them In olive oil, salt and pepper this time, since my other dishes had a fruit flavor accent going; I wanted something more plain this time. I am sure my family would enjoy these with all kinds of seasoning combos!

Zucchini Cornbread Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
Awesome! I followed the directions exactly and this came out delicious. Everyone in my family enjoyed it immensely and I will definitely make it again. My only feedback is that it was done a bit sooner than an hour; mine was pretty thin, as I used a large glass casserole dish. Thanks so much!

Pumpkin Praline Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2013
Like a really rich pumpkin pie. I liked this recipe because it calls for a lot of pumpkin. YUM! Everyone liked it and it was easy to make. My family particularly loved the pralines. I got the idea too late to try it this time, but I bet this would be really good with a ginger snap crust, too!
