I used to hate to cook but I recently became a stay at home mom and I'm learning to like it. Sometimes my husband askes me "What's for dinner honey" and I say, Oh, I though I'd try Something new tonight. He just raises his eyebrows and I have to laugh. I'm alway's trying new things. I get tired of eating the same meals all the time. I try to stay away from fried foods or anything overly greasy and I don't like to make things fussy or complicated. I'm not a gourmet chef and that's ok with me. I just like to make a flavorful and satisfying meal.
My favorite things to cook
I love Mexican and Italian and anything with fruit. But I recently have started to really enjoy baking. I can't seem to resist anything with chocolate in it. Unfortunately, sweet are my weakness!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definately the holiday's. My Mother and My grandmother are FABULOUS cooks. I can only hope to one day be that good. My mom alway's made all kinds of cookies and bars at Christmas and I loved to help her decorate (and eat) her sugar cookies when I was a kid. Now that I have my own family it's a tradition I've carried on with them too.
My cooking triumphs
Everything (and I mean Everything) I learned about cooking I had to teach myself So Anytime I serve a meal and I hear "Mmmm, this is good" I consider that a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy, I think everyone has a few of those. It's how you learn. I've gotten pretty good at cooking over the years but every once in a while I still have a tradegy that sets off the smoke alarms! (That's when my husband calls the pizza delivery guy's!)Ok, that doesn't happen much anymore but there is still an oops every now and then. As the saying goes....If you can't stand the heat, (and an occasional mishap) get out of the kitchen?!
