Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2014
I liked this soup. I followed the original recipe except I used frozen spinach (didn't have any fresh) and I put the tomatoes in the food processor before adding because my Hubby's not crazy about tomatoes chunks in soup. It was very good, but processing the tomatoes made it a more tomatoe base. I won't do that next time. I will definitely make this again! BTW,I used Trader Joe's canned plum tomatoes and did not add salt to the pot, making the sodium less than 200mg for the entire pot. We salted individual bowls to our liking.

Rubbed and Grilled Pork Loin

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2014
I didn't have all the spices on hand so I just used salt and pepper. I used a roasting rack on the grill since indirect heat was not an option. The timing was perfect and even though I overcooked it just a smidge, it was juicy and flavorful. I will definitely buy the recipe spices and do this again and again! Thanks for another great recipe!

Beets on the Grill

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2014
This recipe was excellent! I used golden beets, peeled them and olive oil rather than butter. Timing was perfect, the beets were tender and flavorful! The kitchen stayed cool and I was grilling anyway so this was perfect. Thanks for a great recipe!

Barley Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
Very tasty. I doubled the mushrooms, omitted the parsley (didn't have any) but added a large handful of fresh spinach. The pine nuts added a great textural change & nice flavor. Like it a lot and will make it again, might add even more spinach. Thanks for a very good recipe.

Navy Bean Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
This soup is good, but not great. I used 4 cups chicken broth & 2 cups water, eliminated the bouillon cube. It got alot better when I added a small can of tomato sauce and a couple of drops of liquid smoke. I will make it again.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
Awesome sauce!.. I didn't have any ginger, but I really didn't miss it. Used bone in thighs, but next time will use chicken breast as I prefer white meat. I did as others & doubled the sauce, happy I did! Thanks for a great easy recipe.

Tzatziki Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
Terrific! I used some roasted garlic I had on hand and eliminated the olive oil. It's as good as any tzatziki I've had and took just a couple of minutes to mix up.

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
Very good soup, love it on a cold, rainy day! I used roasted garlic and fire roasted tomatoes for a deeper flavor. I don't like my cabbage mushy, so I added it in the last 10 minutes of cooking.

White Bean Dip with Pine Nuts

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
Absolutely fab!! I used less garlic and basil and used sun dried tomatoes instead of fresh, adding 2 tablespoons of water to compensate for the moisture in the fresh tomato

Screaming Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
They didn't scream, nor did they crisp and they were just so-so. Not worth the effort.

Sesame Beef

This was pretty good and easy, but the meat was a little tough. I used sesame oil and it had goos flavor.

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
I wasn't real thrilled with this, it was too garlicky and the feta was overwhelming. I might try this again, but with less feta.

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
This was very simple and very good, I don't like coconut so I substituted 1/2 cup sunflower seeds and 1/2 cup chow mein noodles! I used dried bing cherries instead of cranberries. I took them to work and they disappeared!! Everyone wants this recipe! They held together fine, not much crumbling & I did line the pan with parchment paper. I will do less chocolate & more fruit next time.

Busy Day Barbeque Brisket

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2009
This was terrific! We don't like spicy so I Didn't use the cayenne pepper & cut the pepper in half. Since my barbecue sauce had smoke in it, I skipped the liquid smoke. I used KC Masterpiece honey smoke sauce. It took about 5 1/2 hours in my crock pot & I turned it over after about 3 hours. Easy, tender (it fell apart!) & totally delicious!!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
This recipe made an excellent sauce and the meat was ten-der! I took some liberties with the original recipe by adding carrots, mushrooms and potatoes. I didn't have any onion soup mix so I used a can of french onion soup in addition to the mushroom soup. I was afraid it would be too salty, but wow!! it was terrific!! Thanks for the ideas!

Cranberry Nut Bread II

Made this for my Mother-in-law while she was visiting and she loved it! It has just the right amount of sweetness when you use fresh cranberries! I also added some chopped pecans.
