Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
A good sandwich bread. As other reviewers mentioned, it doesn't have a strong garlic flavor, but I am not huge on garlic, so I really enjoyed it.

Sun Dried Tomato and Asiago Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This is a great sandwich bread recipe. I didn't have the amaranth flour or the powdered milk, but it still turned out very tasty. From what I've read, the powdered milk is a preservative of sorts for the bread and since we eat it within a few days, we usually don't need to worry about it going stale!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This recipe truly results in cookie shop cookies. I love it because it calls for melted butter. I don't have to remember to take the butter out ahead of time to make the cookies! And they have the right proportions of butter/sugar/flour so the cookies don't turn out flat!

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
Yup, just like everyone says, this bread tastes exactly like the Macaroni Grill bread. I dip mine in olive oil and vinegar and add some of the italian herbs I used in the bread. MMM good.

Tender Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This recipe is quick and easy. I am new to bread making so I still don't know what is meant by "add enough flour to form a soft dough". I was a little worried because I added about 5 cups and I think had a soft dough... but it was still pretty sticky and I had to add a little more flour as I was kneading it. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be? I went with it and they turned out great. Thanks for the great recipe! My husband just went back into the kitchen to grab another roll to "snack" on. :)

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
These are so fabulously simple and great. Although... it did take 3 tries in the oven before I figured out how to eliminate the jam from spreading all over my cookie sheets and creating a mess! (even the messy looking cookies tasted great though) I should have listened to other reviews... In the end... I made the cookies like small little buttons - about the size of a quarter, rolled them into a ball, like another reviewer and then made a nice indent for the jam. You don't need a lot of jam... when you use too much, the jam will destroy your cookie sheets... suggestion for novice bakers like me... use parchment paper the first few rounds so you don't have to deal with the mess in the event you don't use the right amount of jam or push the indent enough to hold the jam... Anyhow, I baked the really small cookies for only 12 1/2 minutes and they turned out fabulously. Each oven is different though... that much I've learned... so I started to look for golden brown edges and then pulled the cookies out .... makes for a tasty shortbread cookie! even my husband, who is a die-hard chocolate chip cookie lover and told me "i don't like sugar/shortbread type cookies"... well... he has managed to eat close to a dozen of the little button cookies in the past few hours!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
I listened to the advise of a few of the other posts and these bars turned out wonderfully! I added another 3/4 cup of oats, reduced the brown sugar to 1/2 cup, reduced the butter to 1/2 cup (1 stick) and added 1/4 cup milk to make up for the difference. This made the batter a nice consistency and allowed me to spread it easily into a 9x9 pie pan (it's all I had available). Other reviews said the bars were too sweet and I think reducing the sugar helped. They are still very sweet and decadent! Also, instead of 1/2 cup of chocolate chips I chopped up a 3 oz dark chocolate Scharffen Berger bar. As others suggested, I refrigerated it first and then cut it into 1 inch cubes too so we can eat a little at a time without feeling too guilty!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
I am a novice cook so I am always looking for easy recipes... other than the constant basting, this one was easy and my fiance loved it. I made no changes to the recipe itself, but I did only cook it for 40 minutes (uncovered) and it turned out great. Again, I am a novice, so maybe it cooked quickly because I only had 6 chicken thighs instead of the suggested 12 but other reviewers seemed to also reduce the cook time... Agree with other reviewers too... definitely coat your baking pan with foil... it makes clean up much easier!

Jen's Fresh and Spicy Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
I've tried 5 other salsa recipes and so far this one is the best. Like other reviewers, I cut down the green onions in half and loved it but I'm not a big onion fan. We've been putting the salsa on everything from eggs to torillas. Very good!
