About this Cook
I've been cooking as long as I can remember. Recently married, I love to experiment with my husband to find new recipes that we can call our "family favorits."
My favorite things to cook
Hmmm...I love cooking everything but pie : ) I take great pleasure in cooking things others will enjoy. That could be roasted garlic mashed potatoes, root beer float cake, out of this world brownies, chicken satay with peanut sauce or a traditional Sunday dinner.
My favorite family cooking traditions
With Scottish and English roots, things like scones, shortbread, roast beef and the like were always staples to rely on. Not to mention my Grandfather's incredible fruitcake (he was a baker) and my Grandmother's amazing stuffing (seen only at Thanksgiving and Christmas).
My cooking triumphs
The day when my Mom said I was a better cook than here (still hard to believe). Specifically, only a few weeks ago, my Yorkshire puddings turned out perfectly. It was fabulous and my company loved them!
My cooking tragedies
The only true tradgedy was when I was eleven. I was baking a giant chocolate chip Christmas tree shaped cookie as a present for my Dad. Sadly, I confused icing sugar for flour. The cookie simply melted over the cookie sheet. Oh well, that's what re-do's are for :)

Checkerboard Potatoes
Not sure what the other complaints were about. I've made these several times and really enjoyed them, as has everyone else. Just a few changes to the recipe -I used a little less butter, subsituted milk for the cream and combined nutmeg with the cinnamon. Very nice!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball
Great recipe! A big hit at my Christmas party - I substituted peppermint extract and rolled it in crushed candy canes. Thanks for sharing this unusual recipe!

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta
I used this sauce for gnocchi. Have a more substantial sauce was great. I really enjoyed the taste - restaurant quality. I used about half the butter. Definately make this again!
