Asian Style Marinade for Steak
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup rice vinegar
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon Asian hot sauce or other hot pepper sauce
1 1/2 lbs flat iron steak
Mix first six ingredient in an shallow, flat, nonreactive dish. (I used glass 9X13 inch baking pan.) Place steak in dish turning once. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator 4 to 6 hours.
Turning a few times before cooking. Grill over hot fire until 130ºF internal temperature when measured with instant read thermometer, for rare. About 4 to 5 minutes a side.(160ºF for medium). Place steak on platter and cover with foil for 10 minutes to rest.
Carve against the grain on a diagonal.
