Asian Style Marinade for Steak
1/2 cup vegetable oil                                       <
1/2 cup rice vinegar
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon Asian hot sauce or other hot pepper sauce
1 1/2 lbs flat iron steak
Mix first six ingredient in an shallow, flat, nonreactive dish. (I used glass 9X13 inch baking pan.) Place steak in dish turning once. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator 4 to 6 hours. Turning a few times before cooking. Grill over hot fire until 130ºF internal temperature when measured with instant read thermometer, for rare. About 4 to 5 minutes a side.(160ºF for medium). Place steak on platter and cover with foil for 10 minutes to rest. Carve against the grain on a diagonal.
Serves 4.

Yummo.. I might add a teaspoon of sesame oil to this, as well as a TBS or two of sesame seeds. They really have a great flavor when the seeds are toasted on the grill. Try finely dicing some cilantro for this too. It works so well with the ginger. Great recipe to enhance or leave as is.

My husband always adds cilantro to this. Forgot to add it when I wrote out the recipe from memory.

My cooking tragedies
Trying to make sweet and sour shrimp with deep fried shrimp. Coating came off the shrimp when I put the sauce on. My familiy refused to eat it. We were short of money then and it hurt to waste the food and then go get MacDonald's for dinner.
