Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2000
Easy to make. I used my sweet sourdough starter and the bread truned out great. It was a light fluffy bread, not heavy at all. Will make this one again!

Chocolate Chip Sourdough Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2000
Pretty good muffins! I omitted the oil and added applesauce instead to lower fat content. The sourdough starter I used was a sweet starter, I would NOT use any other type of starter or your muffin will not be sweet enough. By using the applesauce the muffin becomes a little more dense in texture, but worth it to lower the fat. Kids and hubby all liked them (made the mini size!). Will make them again.

Baked Rice and Vegetables in Broth

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2000
This was very very yummy! I added more that the 1/4c of vege's though (more like 1/2 c each) and a left over chicken breast that I cubed up and threw in. The grocery store was out of vege stock so I added Fat free chicken broth (about 2 2/3 c since there were more vege's) I cooked it for about 45 min's stiring once or twice. I have two small children and they helped cut up the vege's and both of them really liked it. Great way to eat 4 different vege's in one sitting! I WILL be making this one over and over! Defenatly worth the time to cut up the vege's~!

Okra, Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2000
The recipe should have called either for instant brown rice OR spent longer in the oven By the time the chicken was done cooking the rice still wasn't done. The combination of foods was interesting and tasty. A nice change. One of my kids liked it, the other didn't. BUT, I think that if I did the rice differently next time he would like it better too. Give it a try, it's a nice change in vegetable!

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2000
Very Yummy! I made two batches. One was the regular recipe. My son (7rs old) and I made them for his class Thanksgiving dinner. To make it simpler we bought pre made frosting. Then for my own family, who is on a reduced fat diet for health reasons, I substituted the 1 c oil for 1 c sugarless applesauce and 4 eggs for 1c egg beaters. Makes this a fat free dessert and they are VERY moist and tastes wonderful. Instead of frosting I took powdered sugar and added orangejuice and poured it on the top. Will make this often. Easy, tastes great and best yet HEALTHY!

Egg-Free Low-Fat Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2000
Not a bad recipe. Especially for Low fat / fat free. I added more applesauce to mine (1Cup) and also some chocolate chips. My kids ate them with no complaint. Will make them again.

Chocolate Chip Meringue Drops

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2000
Very simple recipe. I had everything already here and on hand. I baked them for an hour and then took them out of the oven after 30 min's. They were chewy and warm. My boys loved them!
