Lobster Bisque

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2000
Delicious taste and very quick and easy to make. I would make it just a little thicker next time.

Chicken Spaghetti Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2000
I thought the onions were too crunchy after the initial baking time. I added more wine, stirred it, and baked it longer, then added the cheese topping. It's good, and my husband really liked it.

Oatmeal Pancakes I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2000
This is a really strange recipe. The "batter" is so thick it's really more like a soft dough. The pancakes have a pleasant taste, but it seems to be a lot of effort to produce something that basically tastes like eating a bowl of oatmeal. Next time I'll just make a bowl of oatmeal.

Sticky Buns II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2000
It took me a lot longer than 30 minutes to prepare this recipe. I found that all the slices of dough wouldn't fit into two pans and I had to prepare a third one. I thought the baking time was a bit too long too because the topping got hard instead of sticky. Nevertheless, the buns were very good.

Banana Peanut Butter Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2000
I didn't really like this bread. The flavor was strange and it was much drier than my regular banana bread. I would not make it again.

White Chili I

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2001
This recipe hardly needs another rave review, but I thought it was outstanding. Very flavorful and very easy to make. It was soupier than I expected, but some nice multi-grain rolls took care of that quite well. This would not serve 5 in MY family!

Sherry Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2001
Although this was fairly good I felt like it needed something. I couldn't figure out what. I liked the addition of peanut butter and coconut milk, but even with all the curry it tasted somewhat bland. I would not make it again.

Lokshin Kugel (Noodle Pudding)

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2001
I was disappointed in this. It was too dry, and in spite of all the onion, I thought it lacked flavor.

Thanksgiving Yams

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2001
The strong gingery taste makes these really good and different from most sweet potato dishes. I thought they were a bit too sweet and would cut back on the cookies when making them again. I also put them into a baking dish and browned the marshmallows in the oven. These are very easy to make and a nice change from the traditional.

Broccoli Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2002
I took these to a church function and they were a big hit. I thought they were really tasty but they took a long time to prepare. I took the suggestion to use a food processor to chop the broccoli but I think next time I would chop it by hand to make it a little more attractive. Cut the squares with a pizza cutter.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2002
I love the texture of these sandwiches. They're crispy and flavorful instead of soft and squishy they way ones on the stove are. I doubt I'll be making grilled cheese sandwiches any other way from now on, even when making only one. They're great. However, I did find that 5 minutes per side was plenty in my oven.

Basic British Scones

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2002
These were quick and easy to make. I had planned to add some blueberries, but when I saw the dough was pretty dense I was afraid they would get all broken up if I tried to mix them in. I also decided to cut the scones into triangles. I wasn't sure how much the scones would spread as they baked, and since they hardly spread at all, my triangles were too small. BUT, they tasted great in spite of all this and I would definitely make them again.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2002
I have had wonderful Italian beef sandwiches in Chicago and was anxious to try to make them at home. This recipe was a huge disappointment. They were WAY too salty and had very little other flavor. I hate to waste food, but I had to throw mine out after a courageous effort to try to eat it all. My husband did eat his. Really awful.

Tangy Sliced Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2003
I thought this tasted too much like Worcestershire sauce. After I added some ketchup it was better, but I doubt I would make it again.

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2003
This is so easy to prepare and it tastes great. No question that I will be making it again. Serve it with some spaghetti or other pasta, a salad and some crusty bread and you couldn't ask for a tastier meal.

Feta Cheese Foldovers

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2003
This is an appetizer that looks more difficult to make than it is. It's really very easy to put together and the pastries have a nice taste. Based on some of the reviews, I used feta with sun dried tomatoes and basil instead of plain feta. I would like to try them with the plain feta to see which I like better. I did have some trouble sealing the dough (maybe I was too greedy with the filling) but I was pleased that the cheese didn't leak out all over during baking. Although I just made them for my husband and me, I wouldn't hesitate to make them for company.

Loosemeat Sandwiches I

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2003
I was looking for something different to do with ground beef and I had everything necessary for this recipe. I really didn't know what to expect as I was not familiar with loosemeat sandwiches. I thought they were very good, but I think if I were going to make a sandwich with ground beef I'd rather have something like sloppy joes.

Easy Eggplant Pita

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
I'm really not all that crazy about vegetables, but I was looking for something different to do with eggplant. I did add some Italian seasoning for additional flavor. I thought these sandwiches were really good. I think they were enhanced by having the cheese and Ranch dressing on them and would have been somewhat bland without them.

Strawberry Cobbler I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2003
I read what others have said about the cobbler being runny, but I like lots of juice and made it according to the recipe. I think the problem is that the juice is not thick enough, so next time I will add more cornstarch. I didn't have heavy cream so I used skim milk in the topping and it still came out fine. I will definitely make this again.
