Japanese-Style Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
This is a great recipe and requires little effort. I cut my green beans in half and do find that they need to cook a little bit longer than stated. The only change I make is cook time, adding some fresh minced garlic and using a few drops of sesame oil with the soy sauce at the end for more of the sesame flavor. These are delicious and a hit in my house!

Tropical Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
I really enjoyed this recipe. I make the salsa as stated and always double it for my family as they love it. When I do not have time to marinate the pork chops I use a mango haberno glaze when on the grill and have awesome results. The mango salsa smells divine as it is cooking and I have also used it on chicken. This one is a keeper for my house.

Asian Salmon Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I made this recipe with a few exceptions. I used fresh salmon and grilled it with a teriyaki sauce. The dressing is divine and I tripled it for my family. I placed on top of mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, green peppers, crasins, avocado slices, toasted almonds, and radishes. This is a wonderful and easy to prepare meal. The dressing also goes well with chicken and pork. Will certainly make again.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
This was okay and some people at the party I took it to enjoyed it. Followed the recipe as stated, but the cook time was off as the bacon needed a bit longer to cook. I personally prefer the bacon wrapped water chestnuts...but this was simple to make.

Slow Cooker Sausage with Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2012
This was super easy and good as well. I did brown my sausage before placing in the slow cooker to cut down on the grease. I also add a bit more onion and pepper and some fresh garlic. Toasting the hoagie buns helps them not to get soggy as well. Super easy recipe, thanks.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
This is a great and easy recipe for shrimp. I usually make as is but double the cayenne and add some pepper flakes as we love heat in our food. I use fresh shrimp and let marinate for an hour or two before throwing them on the grill. When I don't have lemon on hand I have used lime with the same great results.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
Love this recipe! It is always a crowd pleasing dish wherever I take it. I do use slightly less sugar to cut down a bit on the sweetness. I have used raisins, grapes, and Craisins and all have turned out well in this salad. I mix this up the night before but don't add the bacon and sunflower seeds until serving. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!

Tater Tot Taco Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
This was okay. It felt soggy to most of us and the texture of this dish was not appealing. I did chop onions, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, and jalapenos for toppings but we just were not impressed. Cool idea but it didn't work for my family.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
I always make a highly rated recipe as written first. The first time I made as is there was just way too much tomato for our liking and I felt like it was good but missing something. The second time I made it I substituted the tomatoes for a few cans of rotel (hot because we love spice). I also add freshly sliced jalapeno when cooking garlic an onion. Since the corn only didn't seem filling enough I also add sliced carrots and green beans to make it more of a chicken stew and to make it more filling. I add half the sour cream when cooking, and reserve the other half to top the soup when serving. The other day when I made this I added some cubed cream cheese to give it a thicker and creamier texture. I also add a few dashes of cayenne, again because we like the spice. This is a good soup that can be adjusted to any taste. Simple and easy and it does make a lot which is great for freezing or leftovers.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Love this recipe! First of all I always triple or quadruple the sauce. My family loves the sauce. Secondly I usually make these in the oven. I make the sauce cover the chops with sauce and bake covered for about 30 minutes, then uncover and top with additional brown sugar and cook for about 15-20 more minutes. I also season the chops well before topping with sauce. Very tasty and easy recipe. I usually serve with rice and a veggie. Yummy!!

Crab and Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Love this recipe! I often use bread crumbs instead of croutons, and sometimes add a dash of oregano or basil. If I do not have mozzarella on hand I have used smoked cheeses or even Parmesan. They do great in the oven but even better tasting on the grill. Thanks!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Love this recipe! Make as stated but do add a little more garlic and sometimes if I do not have Romano just use an Italian Cheese Blend instead. This is quick and easy and a crowd pleaser!!

Superfast Asparagus

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
Love this recipe as a great and quick easy asparagus dish. I do toss with a little EVO to coat the asparagus well before seasoning. Also if asparagus is thin I cook for a bit shorter than stated. My kids and husband love this! Thanks.

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
Made this as stated and felt like it was okay but needed tweaking. I add some fresh garlic, montreal steak seasoning, seasoned bread crumbs and in addition to the Heinz I also add a little smoky BBQ sauce. I saute the onion and green pepper before adding to the meat mixture as well. I place two slices of bread on bottom of pan to soak up some of the grease. Turns out moist and flavorful. Thanks.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2011
Love this recipe! Make as stated but do cook at 400 degrees and cut mine smaller to speed up cooking time. Have made with fresh garlic and powdered garlic as well. I also use a little fresh pepper and when I uncover them I add a little more Parm as we love it. My family really enjoys these and this recipe is quickly becoming a staple in our house. Thanks!

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
I made this as is the first time. Thought it was a bit bland. Next time used taco seasoning, garlic powder, and added some rotel (drained). I also used Mexican blend cheese. The first time I made this it was a bit soggy, so I made the tortilla layer a little thicker and cut back on the sour cream. Easy dish to make and a family favorite at my house. I serve with Mexican rice and a Mexican salad.

Cheesy Jalapeno Corn

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
Made this first time as stated and it was good, but needed a little tweaking. I have used both canned and frozen corn with good results. It was a little runny when made as written so I do add more flour. I like to use fresh jalapenos with the seeds as we like spicy. For a variation of this recipe I have also added rotel and mozzarella cheese. Good side dish and super easy.

Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
These are easy and very good. Sometimes I use sesame seed oil if I have it, but I love it with the olive oil as well. And sometimes I saute a little garlic an add to the broth. Super easy and a family favorite.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
Made these first time as stated and thought they needed tweaking. I used Tony's, few dashes of garlic powder and pepper in the flour. I also used half bread crumbs and half panko. They fry beautifully and were super delicious. Have used this on mushrooms and zucchini as well with great results. Thanks!

Potato Salmon Patties

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
Tried these first time as stated and found them a bit bland. Second time I added lemon juice, a few dashes of cayenne pepper, some horseradish and a sprinkle of basil. Had better flavor. I liked the idea of another reviewer who used a 1/4 measuring cup to form, makes the perfect size. Good base recipe, thanks!
