I am from Rosewll N.M. and grew up with wonderful cooks all around me. I lived away from home quite a bit growing up so cooking always took me back.
Now, I live in Austin, TX and I love to make all my childhood favorites, keep all of our favorite New Mexican traditions and try new things. My husband loves to use his "Big green egg" BBQ so I love summer cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Chile,( Hatch and Texas), posole, Brunches!! I love brunch quiches, fruit salads, tarts and all the fun stuff that goes along. My husband is from S. Mississippi and he loves to cook as well, so we like trying out Cajun, southern stuff as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Posole at New Years, Green chile stew anytime, My Uncle Kenny's peach cobbler, And... still tring to make my Papa's beer gravey and biscuts. I want to learn to can preserves like my Granny's, I love the fall so I can make apple butter with her.
My cooking triumphs
Red and green chile enchaladas ( my Texas friends call them "stacks") My friends and family love my Quiches. My husband and my Gumbo, we finally have the roux down.
My cooking tragedies
Our first Gumbo, we burnt the roux and the whole house smelled for day's!
