About this Cook
Just a working mom who finds cooking a great stress release. I'm always looking for healthy, quick and easy meals to prepare after a long day at work. My true love is baking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake anything. I'm always tweaking cookie and muffin recipes to make them a bit more healthy with a bit less calories. Aside from baking, my favorite things to cook are prime rib, seafood quiche, seafood fetticini, taco soup and biscuits with sausage gravy...all the non-healthy high calorie stuff!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I can't say I have any family cooking traditions because every family get together is another chance to try out something new!
My cooking triumphs
One year my husband and I decided to host a prime rib dinner with a few friends. It has since become an annual event and has grown from a inimate litte group of 6 to a large group of 20 (the maximum amount of people I can squeeze in my house!) My friends claim my prime rib is the best in the county and they fight, bribe and suck up for a coveted invite. A few have even been know to rearrange their lives just to attend!
My cooking tragedies
My husband called them dirt clods...they were actually a sausage cheese biscuit!

Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup with Bacon and Hash Browns
Great recipe for the crock pot. I used turkey ham instead of the bacon and opted to leave out the red pepper flakes because I don't like spice. I made this a "freezer meal" by dumping everything into a freezer bag (except the split peas) and put it in the freezer. I took the bag out of the freezer the night before crocking to thaw. The next morning I rinsed the split peas and placed them into the crock pot and poured the contents of the freezer bag on top. Turned the crock pot on low and went to work. Came home to a wonderful meal! Will definitely make more to keep in the freezer!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff
This was just average. My kids didn't care for the texture of the steak after being in the crock pot for 6 hours. They asked me to never make it again and please make my other beef stroganoff recipe next time.

Chocolate Pretzels
These are quick and easy! I like to make them with the candy cane Kisses with mint M&M's around the holidays.
